All I can find are Everolimus and Axitinib.  Anyone else doing something different?

      Thanks,

    I'm confused

If you have no mets, why would you not choose surgical intervention to remove the tumor or kidney? Trials are for those who have exhausted all other options, not the starting point.

    I'm not sure about that

My first post surgical treatment was the clinical trial of nivolumab. (mdx-1106). Wouldn't have qualified if any other treatments had been given.

    Sorry I did have resection

Sorry I did have resection last month.  I am now looking for an Adjuvant therapy.  Noone seems to be offering an Anti-Pd1 like Nivolumab unless you have mets.  I have Stage three with a positive lymph node but no mets.  I was hoping someone else was in the same situation and had more information.

There's a database you can search

There may not be many. Search the online database and ask an RCC medical oncologist. They will know what trials are available.

I was Stage 3 and did the Everolimus trial 2 years ago. At that time all they had was Everolimus and Votrient. I chose Everolimus. After I had a met and had it resected, all that was available was Votrient. I decided against another adjuvant trial this time.

It's a bit controversial with regards to whether to try adjuvant therapy. There's no approved adjuvant therapy. A trial that compared Sutent, Placebo and some other TKI (can't recall which one) recently was stopped early and published because there was no improved outcome from giving these drugs when no tumors were present.

I do understand you wanting to do something. I was the same way.

I think the reason there are no adjuvant studies with PD-1 drugs, is because I don't think any of them have been approved even for metastatic disease yet. Still, search the database and as your RCC medical oncologist.

    Best wishes,

    Todd

    In general...

...adjuvant therapy is very rarely used and is not a standard approach in RCC treatment. So far no trials has provided results to change this.
