Depression
I dont know what to do. I had limphoma last year, my last chemo was in November 2014 and December 2014 they told me I´m clean. I changed a loot since then. I moved to another place because I was not happy where I lived before. I live now in a place where I can do my sport but somehow... I feel like i compleatly lost myself, I dont have any nerves anymore, if something annoyes me I get so angry and sad at the same time. I do go out, I meet people, I DO. BUT most of the time i feel like I just wanna have cancer again and not surviving it to stop what im feeling right now. I cant deal with that sadness anymore. I`ve heard that because of the hormones its normal to be a bit depressed, but like THAT?¿

Sorry for no response
I'm sorry that no one has responded to your message. I wish I had some good words of advice for you but because I have always been the caretaker of loved ones for cancer and not the patient I'm not sure I would have the right words for you. Please find someone to talk to. Find a support group, talk to a pastor, find someone that can relate to what you are feeling. Lots of hospitals have support groups so maybe call a hospital near you and see if they can offer some support to you. Don't give up and be thankful that you are alive and well. There's a reason you are alive and doing well and never lose sight of that. I wish you the best in finding the answers so you can feel happy and alive.

Depression
Greetings patrizia.alix:
I am a 28 year survivor. I currently live with late-effects of the radiation therapy I had in 1987. As well as the chemotherapy I had in 1989.
For me, my dx of late-effects/chronic illnesses brought with it anxiety and depression. I have learned to employ a variety of coping skills which if you are interested I'll share in a subsequent message.
As much as you can live in the now. Even in the moment. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Take care, Glen

I'd love to hear your coping skills and I bet I'm not the only one.

Depression is Treatable
Hi, it's very common for us to develop Depression. The good news is there's treatment. You have three major options in coping with depression: 1. You can engage in what I call talk therapy. The most effective evidence heralds Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as an effective treatment for depression. Seek out a therapist who specializes in CBT. 2. You can speak to a psychiatrist or perhaps your primary physician to prescribe an anti-depressant. Sometimes this is just as effective. I chose this option, since long before I was diagnosed with cancer, I had depression and although I hadn't taken medication for many years, it did help tremendously then...and it was just as effective at getting me through the depression last year after treatment. 3. You can do a combination of talk therapy and medication. This is a great choice if you're needing additional support and are working on adjustments, like the new move or increasing enjoyable activities. Hope this helps!

HI
Thier is alot of help out their depression, I lived with it most of my life, now with stage 4 cancer breast to bones mets I'm struggling again, I live alone & that doesnt help much, im pretty much home bound, I will start seeing a counselor hear at my home, im on 2 antidepressants, one to help me sleep at night. Find a mental health center in your area, pick up the phone & call your insurance helpline, call a friend, keep your mind busy,,,, I know that empty, dark feeling all to well. I wish you the best, feel free to email me, I will pray for us. Jeannie.
