Complex Cysts in Remaining kidney

I am a 7 year kidney cancer survivor, I had a 3.2 cm mass discovered during a kidney stone attack in my right kidney. I went to 3 different surgeons to get opinions before surgery and decided to go with a surgeon that favored DaVinci Robot. My surgery went downhill afer the robot cut the artery instead of secururing it and I was in surgery for 11 hours. I wound up having a radical instead of a partial nephrectomy due to complications. I went for 4 years with no occurence. Then it was discoverd I had two "Complex Cyst" in my remaining kidney. They have been monitered and are now measuring 1.7 and 1.9 cm. After going for another opinion recentley, and a new MRI, the radiologist found 3 more small enhancing spots, 1.4,1,and1 cm. 

After checking the previos MRI done 7 months ago, they were noted on that one, also. They were noted as stable and unchanged with some enchancement, simple cyst. The new surgeon ordered some genetic tests, which we get back in 6 weeks. We are also getting in touch with the NIH, whom we here is fantastic. We are definatley confused and nervous about the conflicting radiology reports. I new sooner or later I would have to have surgery to remove the two larger masses, but now the surgeon says these other complicate the surgery and I am worried about losing kidney function.     I have a lump growing on my remaining kidney. This strikes me as the disease being decidedly tricky. I give it a hard stare ( I'm a teacher so I'm good at stares) and remind it that i'm bigger than it is. I'll show the bugger!

    Actually, I dont know what I'd do if I lost my remaining kidney. It might be the time for some hard choices.

    I can't even imagine how worried you must be since you only have that one kidney. I'm hoping for the best possible resolution. Perhaps they're cysts they can leave alone, or even they must bcome out, most of your kidney can be spared. I hope you're seeing the best possible experts who can handle difficult partial nephrectomies. I don't blame you for being confused and scared but hopefully it will be resolved and the kidney can be saved. Wishing you the very best and keep posting here for support and encouragement.

    Thankyou, APny, We are currently with a surgeon from UNC, but are trying to get into NIH. We have heard they are the best, so we are praying we get in. The words of encourement are deeply appreciated. Wishing you the best, also.
