Booklet that defines CA 125

zenmama posted this link over on the ovarian board, and I thought you all might enjoy it as well.  CA 125 is not just used in ovarian cancer but uterine/endometrial cancers as well.  Susan P made the comment, which I think many of us agree with, that we want to know more about our disease and things like this are in a language we can all understand.

Enjoy.

Thank you for reposting this information for us.  The CA -125 is a marker for me, as it is for many others with uterine cancer.   Great information.  Glad you continue to do well.  In peace and caring.

    Ca125

thank you for sharing this. while its not a complete test, it is a very good test to monitor treatment effectiveness. unfortunately in Australia doctors don't seem to like this test. I asked my mum's gp to do this test and he refused. The oncologist also refused and was not happy that I suggested it. I am not a fan of doing scans all the time but it seems that is the only thing oncologists here like to do. I am so frustrated with australian medical system! even simple questions like what vitamins should she be using ticks off the oncologist. The dietician we got told us that organic is just a fad. Don't worry if you cannot digest green vegies. Just eat potatoes and carrots. What sort of chance does a patient have with this kind of attitude and lack of care? I wish someone could tell me a better gp and oncologist in Sydney!
