Recovering at home after first (only hopefully) liver resection
Wow,
You guys were right, manageable but painful. Huge Frankenstein incision, must have 50 staples holding it closed. Starting to walk a little better one week later.
Good news, the chemo worked before surgery, folfoxiri plus avastIn. The right lobe lesion was down to two centimeters so a 4x4 divot was taken out. And the left lobe which was expected to be removed completely was able to have one section saved so that will grow back too.
As you all said, I'm extremely tired. And my right side feels like a tight rubber band. The muscles being cut I suppose.
I'm just glad to be home and on the way to recovery. I will have chemo after, when did that start for any that had a liver resection? I heard about 4 weeks.
Glad to be back online, missed reading everyone.

I hope they got it all too. Always the fear....
Thanks for your good wishes. At least it'll be easier with a Halloween costume, zombie I'm thinking, lol, plenty of scars now.

Happy
I am really happy to hear that you have the surgery behind you and that you are on the road to recovery.
What good news to know that the liver tumour had shrunk. So much easier and less (a little less) invasive. A really good sign.
Rest up and recover fully. I know you have more chemo to face, but you've been that road and know what to expect.
Take good care of yourself..

Happy to hear it, I've got a double hernia from last Labor Day when I had my surgery, a foot up and a foot to the right. So now it's about waiting and scanning, I hope you're celebrating a small victory like me, and facing a future with hope, You can beat this. Dave

I'm glad to hear you are recovering well, the walking will help with the tightness feeling, I still try to do sideways stretches when I think about it to keep that area of tightness loose, I think it also helps a bit with not letting scar tissue set, but that's my opipion, I haven't asked a doc about it, just doing what seems natural to benefit my body. Keep up the good work of walking. Were cheering you on from the sidelines!!
And yes, they like to start chemo from anywhere of 4 weeks (usually being the soonest time) and six weeks depending on how well you are healing.
heres to your excellent recovery,

i am apprehensively positive, at least the worst that was looming in front of me is passed. I was pretty scared. Now on to the next rounds of chemo. As much as I hate that at least I can visualize the goodness that can come from it if my body allows it.
my best,
Andrea

Sounds like it
went great, I'm happy for you. After my liver resection I had these crazy deep sleeps and night sweats. I slept on a towel and would change it during the night. I don't know if this is typical but it went away eventually. I've grown to love my big zipper scars, signs of the battles I've been through. I was thinking I might tattoo over them but I'm just going to leave them to remind me of my struggle AND my strength. We're badasses : )

.....as soon as is stops hurting!
Ive gotten really crazy crazy dreams since I've been home. Thought it was the Percocet but maybe it's just my liver in shock. And have had some night sweats but not as severe as yours.
I would love to be a badass, lol. Gonna wait to see if I can get NED before I pull that one out.
Don't put a tattoo over those beauties )
thanks,
Andrea
