Green Tea
Bottom line is that I still drink 4-6 cups of green tea a day and cut my coffee consumption to 2 cups/day. I was treated with CyberKnife in 2010 and since then, my psa has dropped to 1.2 on a steady decline since the treatment. All DREs have been normal.
I buy my green tea at a Chineese whosale grocery and a ten lb. bag of loose tea costs about $9.00. This lasts me about 9 months. I brew the tea in an automatic coffee maker
which I set to turn on 7:00 a.m. I read (somewhere) that by adding a small amount of lemon juice concentrate to a cup to the tea, it will increase the effectiveness of the healing power of the tea. I don't know if this is true but I do add the juice which increases the taste of the tea. Jimmy/Cleveland

Your experience with the Green tee is great. Thanks for the info. It deserves a try particularly for cases with the cancer in a dormant status. This may be good for my Off-drugs period as maintenance. I will try adding at least three cups daily.
Best.

I drink 3-6 cups of green
I drink 3-6 cups of green tea everyday.
Started doing that when I went on my weight loss program 6 months ago when I gave up beer and soda and have been doing it ever since.
This started after I was already treated for PCa w/CK. Given my erratic PSA numbers and my recent rise (which we've determined is almost certainly not caused by cancer), it doesn't appear that drinking green tea has had any effect on me, except to cause me to have to urinate more frequently.
This may actually be contributing to my current urinary frequency/urgency issues (but probably not the burning). Will be getting a urinalysis shortly to see if this problem is based on an infection or some other cause.
If not, I might stop drinking green tea to see if at least the frequency/urgency issue goes away along w/the reduction of caffeine which is a diuretic.
I also "discovered" that Cialis has been approved for use for symptoms (like urinary frequency) caused by BPH. Don't know if I have an enlarged prostate currently but I stopped taking my daily 5mg Cialis a couple of months ago (because of the cost and the ability to "perform" w/o it) about when my urinary problems started. So, I may start taking Cialis again to see if that has any effect as well.0 -
A Few Side effects of Green tea
1) More Harmful during pregnancy due to caffeine – For women who are pregnant and breast feeding, it is strongly recommended that green tea should be consumed in limited amount for its caffeine content in it. Excessive consumption might lead to side effects like miscarriage and other negative effects.
Moreover, the caffeine gets blended with the breast milk and can adversely affect the infant. It has also been seen that birth defects are caused due to large intake of green tea.2) Psychological side-Effects on Human body - Excessive consumption of green tea also causes certain psychological side effects like anxiety, nervousness, sleeping disorders, depression and several orders. Doctors and physicians have been blaming the caffeine content for such disorders and therefore, asking to limit the consumption to a maximum of two cups per day.
3) Green tea causes lack of Iron - It has been seen in researches that too much intake of green tea actually causes iron deficiency in people. People suffering from anemia should, therefore, abstain from consuming much of green tea as it might worsen the situation. Also it causes irregular and fluctuating pulse rate. For this reason, green tea should always be consumed with a slice of lemon or half a teaspoon of lime.
4) Sexual Side Effects Of Green Tea – Consuming a lot of green tea might also lead to certain sexual side effects. Although, this is still under research but to be on the safe side, it is advisable to avoid too much intake of green tea if you live an active sex life.
5) Negative Impact of Green tea on Stomach – The large amount of caffeine content in green tea can also cause certain stomach problems. People who are suffering from diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcer and other stomach complications should abstain from consuming much green tea as it shall only aggravate the situation and complicate the complications further. It may also cause nausea and vomiting for some people.
6) Allergic effects due to green tea – Green tea consumption in large amounts can also cause certain allergic reactions to the body. It has been seen that large intake of green tea leads to rashes and eruptions on the body; it also causes swelling of the mouth, lips and tongue.

I used to drink green tea every day until I underwent RP, SR and ADT chemo. My doctor team directed me to extend my usual 1/2 hour afternoon nap to a full hour every day. It was a prescription. Unfortunately, due to the extended time it takes green tea caffiene to clear your blood stream, it began to interfere with my ability to get that needed rest, so I quit drinking it.
I also had to cut my normal 4 cups a day coffee intake down to 2 cups a day after the RP suergery. Still get that "sudden, urgent need to urinate" that comes with the PCa treament turf. Even 1/2 cup more gives me some problems....

Additonal Note: About six years ago, a while back, I spoke with a doctor who specializes in nutrition studies about prostate cancer( sorry, I have a senior moment and forget his name) . His advise was that for those who drink coffee, drinking green tea is preferred. If one does not drink coffee, don't start drinking green tea.
Basically green tea has oxidents that are good for prostate cancer patients,

Hopeful: "Senior Moment"
Ira,
I wonder your meaning for "Senior Moment". What does seniors have to do with forgeting the name of people?
Let's celebrate with green tea this time.
Best,

A shot of green tea in a glass of tequila to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, a wonderful holiday here in the United States.

i love the stuff. I drink it mostly in the afternoon. Or at night. I hope it has the curative powers you say it does.
i have not seen much infomation on the subject. Maybe you can direct me to some websites.
thanks
I use a supplement called Tegreen. you can read about it here-http://jeffzisselmanscience.tumblr.com/post/84191717905/personal-review-of-green-tea-extract-product
I use it along with conjugated linoleic acid to primarily remove stomach fat so that the six pack will come forth. My personal opinion is that green tea with the caffeine removed can be a very useful addition in the fight against cancer and in achieving the goal of good health. My personal research says thet this is a MUST HAVE item for me. I would suggest that you might read the above and investigate further. Green Tea may be a blessing.
Love, swami rakendra
