Chemo and radiation at same time?

My husband is currently having irinotecan (third line treatment) for stage 4 oesophageal cancer, he has it once a fortnight. He has developed extensive lymphadenopathy in the right supra clavicular fossa which is causing a lot of arm and shoulder pain, we are hoping he might be able to have some targeted radiotherapy to help with this but I thought our oncologist said he couldn't have chemo and radiation at same time. We don't see her for another week.

    Chemo/Radiation

My husband has had chemo and radiation at the same time -- 2 different times.  My aunt who fought the good battle with this beast, had radiation and chemo at the same time, several different times.  Hopefully you just misunderstood your oncologist or else you need to get a second opinion.

    Wishing you the best

It is common to have chemotherapy and radiation together

It is farily common for patients to have chemotherapy and radiation therapy at the same time. Perhaps your husband has other health issues that preclude radiation with chemotherapy? If not I would seek a second opinion.
