So today is day3. I feel like I just got run over. Had a bit of rectal bleeding last night that completely freaked me out. Then today slight nausea - seems to be getting worse - headache & fatigue. I guess I didn't expect it this quickly.

I had a quick onset of nausea and fatigue.  By day 2, I felt pretty lousy.  It seems to be different for everyone.  I hope you got nausea meds that are effective.  Get lots of rest and drink lots of water.  Take care and keep us posted.

    Kelleb....

Hi, so sorry to hear this. I am going through chemo right now as well for treatment of recurrance and the past couple days have been really rough here as well. Today was a bit better. I have found that keeping hydrated is sooooo important. Even if you feel too queasy to eat, force yourself to sip something, anything, I also suck on pop-sicles and nibble on watermelon. I don't normally eat peanut butter, but during chemo I have found PB&J to actually help to keep my stomach more settled. Also, if they have not given you anti-nausea meds be sure to ask for something. There are several out there and they do seem to help. Your body may adjust to the initial shock and things may be better tolerated later, but unfortunately thats probably about when the radiation effects will give you some other concerns.

Just concentrate on getting through today and don't be concerned about tomorrow until tomorrow.....if thats possible. You are 3 days closer to done than you were last week!!! Thats something!

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers, rest and feel better!

I'm new to this not sure how it all works. I just found out I have anal cancer. I don't know the stage yet I'm a 53 year old woman. I have yet to go through the tests for staging this should happen soon. I

would like to know what I'm in for and what to except. Im one of those nutty holistic types and will be doing that kind of stuff along with the recommended chemo/ radiation for anal cancer. I would love as much honest details I can get. As will as any great dr I should look into in the LA area.

    Hello.

Cindygilmore7 - I'm sorry that you have this diagnosis and have to face chemotherapy and radiation. Please don't be tempted into leaving researched treatments for some untested, even scammy, "alternative". Be sure to discuss any supplements you want to take and skin treatments with both the oncologist and radiation oncologist in the event that they are incompatible with chemo meds or block the radiation from reaching it's target.

You may run into radiation enteritis or even long-term post-treatment diarrhea. If so, you may have to accept that a low-residue diet may be necessary, at least for a while. A registered dieticition will help you make it as nutritionally complete as possible. And if you're like me, you'll feel really unheathy without fresh salads .>_<.

Be prepared for things to become different for at least a long while. And all the best in your treatment.
