    My husband passed away

My husband lost the 2 and half year fight with this cancer.  It spread to his lungs, throughout his body in the lymphnodes.  His organs all began shutting down.  He stayed in the hospital for 10 days and then decided to come home where he was happiest, and at peace when he took his last breath.  He passed with his family around him which is what he wanted.   He passed away April 14, 2015.  Thank you for your support and information you shared with me in his journey.  God be with all of you who are still fighting this battle and with those who love you.

I'm so sorry.  Love and peace

I'm so sorry.  Love and peace be with you both.  Hugs.

    Cancer

I have wondered and even asked the doctors this question about squamous cell cancer -- can it spread thru the blood to other parts of the body.  My husband over the years has had several places on his face that proved to be SCC.   Then in 2010 it was found in his laryx which necessitated 35 radiation and 3 chemo treatments then surgery to remove his larynx.  All margins were clear and no spread was found.  Then one year later it was found at the cervical of his esophagus.  Specialist calls it a second primary but still SCC.  More radiation and chemo since surgery was ruled out and only NED for 3-4 months when found that it had returned at the cervical of his esophagus and found in his right lung.  He declined further treatment because only thing offered was chemo and we were told up front it wouldn't cure only prolong and possibly hasten his time.

So I have wondered if the SCC was in his blood to begin with when it was removed from his face or did it get into his blood from the SCC on his face.  I remember talking with a lady while her husband was undergoing radiation as mine at the same time.  She said her husband had been fighting cancer for several years.  He had a spot on his head that turned out to be SCC and when they removed it they found that the cancer was all the way down to his brain.  They were just giving his several radiation treatments on his brain to help because he wanted to keep fighting.  He only received 5 treatments and that was the last I saw of them.

Personally I don't think doctors even begin to know what causes cancer, how it spreads, how to treat it effectively.  It is just a guessing game and many get lucky and survive while others don't.

I think the doctors knew on the day of diagnosis how this was going to end, but they gave us hope with treatments, and several surgeries.  I believe they knew from the beginning. I bellieve they milked us for every dime they could get out of his misery.  At times I felt he was passed around from doctor to doctor to share with the money and what they could get.  I actually had to stop it, and tell them no more passing him around and gaining nothing from it.    He was already in 4th stage when they found it.  There was no stopping it.  It WAS in his blood, that's how it spreads.  My husband lived longer, but he suffered so much more because of all the treatments and surgeries.  Each time, he got worse.  Bad things began happening to his body.  The last round of chemo, last year, left him with hands that couldn't hold a cup, a pencil, anything, without dropping it.  These treatments do not only work on the cancer they destroy other parts of the body.  From going through this experience with my husband, right now, I feel, if I'm ever told I have this, I will not take one, not even one treatment.  I would rather die sooner than to go through what my husband went through.  I will never forget.  God be with you.
