I'm done! Yahooie!
I had my LAST appointment with the gynecologic oncologist this morning. He officially kicked me to the curb. I had my surgery July 1, 2010 and this is close enough to 5 years for me. I hope this is encouraging to those of you who have the "garden variety" (endometroid adenocarcinoma), early stage, low grade cancer that I did. I was good about keeping my follow up appointments (I did get a little slack the last 18 months, but hey, I went eventually) and always knew the chances of recurrence for this type of cancer were very low, but it took me at least 2 years go wrap my head around that. He had to tell me that the guidelines recommend yearly pelvic exams by a gynecologist, but I doubt I'll do that and he knows it. Should any symptom present itself, of course, I'll see someone, but it is so unlikely that it will happen, why go looking for trouble?
I celebrated by picking up a slice of Fantasy Cheesecake (2 layers of chocolate, 1 layer of regular cheesecake). Yummmmmm.
Hugs to you all. May all of you reach this point, regardless of whether your cancer was lazy and little like mine or more aggressive. I feel so very lucky to have had such a good prognosis initially and to have had such a great outcome.

Dear Suzanne!
I am SO happyDear Suzanne!
I am SO happy for you that you have reached this milestone
I remember when I came aboard in late 2012 your information was so helpful, and your diagnosis made me hopeful. I was fortunate enough to end up with the same grade/stage & type of cancer without the breast cancer complication.
I hope I continue in your footsteps and make it to my 5 year mark with no setbacks.
I hope you plan on remaining on the boards as your journey has helped so many others, you possess invaluable information & experience, and your picture puts a smile on my face as you resemble the classic blonde California girl that you are!!!
Wishing you the best!
Kathy

Hi Suzanne:
Congratulations on reaching your 5 year mark. It must be a wonderful feeling and certainly a tremendous milestone and I am very happy for you. I wish you all the best for the future.
You should continue to celebrate your tremendous milestone by going out to dinner and splurge on something you normally would not buy for youself.
Recently, I just reached my 4 year mark of having No evidence of disease of UPSC which is a more aggressive cancer as I was diagnosed with Stage 1. I feel very fortunate and grateful to have reached the 4 year mark and hopefully I will make it to my 5 year mark in early 2016. I am very grateful for each day and live each day to the fullest.
Please continue to keep in touch on the uterine board.
Hugs,
Cheerful
a/k/a Jane

What great news. 5 years of dancing with NED is wonderful. Hope you enjoyed every bite of that cheesecake. You have been an inspiration to many. Most would not like " being kicked to the curb", but your reason is certainly something to celebrate. May you continue to be happy and healthy. As others have said, I hope you will keep in touch. In peace and caring.

Whooooo hooooooo
This is absolutely the best news I've read for ages. I am so, so pleased for you. We need to read stories like this to know that this beast of a disease doesn't always win. I know that it hasn't been an easy ride for you and that you faced down both breast and womb cancer. What a lady!
Hope that cheesecake was good - you've earned every mouthful!
Whooooo hooooooo!
