Should I be worried?
I am 21 months post treatment for Stage I breast cancer, estrogen positive tumor. My breast itched a lot before I was diagnosed. After the tumor was removed (I had a lumpectomy), the itching went away. It has started itching again and I'm not due for a mammogram until November. I can't feel anything. Should I be worried about this, or just assume it's from the markers They put in?

Post Treatment?
After the lumpectomy did you have radiation? I think I would call my surgeon or my Radiation Oncologist and just let them know about my concern. They are always there for us and if it would relieve your mind then why not call them? I looked at your home page but you haven't filled it in yet. (I didn't do mine for about 6 years myself)....
Prayers for getting peace of mind.

I had chemo and radiation. My tumor was 1.7 cm and the tumor markers indicated a high enough chance of recurrence that they recommended chemo. I just hate calling as I know it will be another mammogram. It seems like I have one every six months for some reason or another.

I know how we hate it............I really hated the blood work every week forever myself.........but they only did the Mammograms once a year for me...but we all are different and have different needs. The trouble is....you know yourself better than anybody else does...cancer puts us in tune with our bodies in a whole new way....and if you really truly feel that there has been a change ....then you know in your heart you need to check it out.
It's like anything else......we just hate it but we just gotta do it. Fooey and Dammit.........
Sending prayers for finding peace about this and hope that it will resolve itself for you soon.

I itched pre being diagnosed
I itched pre being diagnosed a great deal, and felt uncomfortable, couldn't get any bra to feel comfortable except for cotton keep fit ones. Plus I seems to getting bigger and bigger. I have read several times that some women do feel itchy. I was infiltrating lobular so don't know if the types makes a difference. I would definetly get it checked you said there was a strong chance of recurrence, that was true of mine also was in fact found in both sides which is common for this type. Mine is not found on mammos like most others until suddenly established. ie one year a mammo showed nothing there and the next year a cylinder shape was very noticable. Request a MRI.
Itching can be a sign of healing too but as you are ways down the line I would think that would have passed. Please get back to us. Could be nothing, take it you have no insect bites or anything that obvious, ect.......

I emailed my nurse practitioner at the surg onc. She is not worried about it. Says it's part of the healing process, but not the markers. I'll see the med onc next month and will talk to her about it again, but it sounds like it's nothing Other than that panic I get when something is different...

We are thinking about you .. If you are still concerned, please try and get in sooner. A piece of mind is so worth the phone call for an earlier appointment.
Please post an update, when you can....
Strength, Courage and HOPE for a Cure.
