Stage IV 6+ Years and Still NED

Had my semi-annual visit with my Onc yesterday. My CEA level indicates I'm still NED. I told my doctor I think I am cured and he agreed but said to be safe we should continue testing until year 10. He said after 7 years we can do CEA checks just anually. I haven't been visiting this site much anymore, but thought I better let those that are following a program similar to mine that it is still working. For those new to the Board I do the following to prevent recurrence:

1. Exercise 3 hrs/day

2. Followed a low carb Mediterranian Diet. Avoid sugar, processed grains, and red meat. Eat lots for friut, vegetables, green tea, and tumeric.

3. Take the following supplements. Aspirin, multi-vitamin, Vit. D3, fish oil, Co-Q10, resveratrol, grape seed extract, and curcumin.

4. Avoid stress

5. Prayer

6. Visualize my anti-bodies attacking cancer cells.

As you can see I try to cover all the bases. A side benefit to the plan is I rarely get sick and I don't get fat. One of the reason I don't visit the site much anymore is that a lot of the old timers I started with are no longer with us and it makes me sad. I promise to keep posting my status after each doctors visit. I remember that when I first came to this site what I was searching for is people who had beat Stage IV and how they did it. I guess I can be one of those people now. Best of luck to everyone!

Thank you for posting the encouraging update.  I am at 5 year mark and followed a similar regimen (In addition to standard treatments of chemo and surgery.)  I think there is something to it.

I hope to follow in your footsteps. I'm 6 months NED and doing everything I can. Keep posting, we need the inspiration.

    You can find Tumeric

    Hi,

You can find Tumeric capsules in the vitamin aisle of your local pharmacy or Walmart.

    Tumeric

I mix tumeric 50/50 with black pepper. The black pepper is suppose to make it easier for the body to absorb the tumeric. I then sprinkle this mixture on just about everything, soups, eggs, cassoroles, etc.

    Program

I am interested in how you developed your program. I remember when I asked my doctor how I could prevent recurrence he really didn't know. I asked him if anyone had done a survey of Stage 4 survivors to see what they had done to prevent recurrence he did not know of any, which I thought was crazy. I developed my program piecemeal from various books and articles on ways to prevent and treat cancer. Some examples are I saw a story in the paper about aspirin improving cancer survivorship and a story about testing resveratrol  for treating cancer and imediately added them to my supplements. Also can you share with me what your program consists of? Thanks.
