Oh and While I'm at it ~ Six Years
On January 2, 2009 I was Dx STG III SCC Tonsil Cancer..
Today I just got my results from the six year CT scan...
It doesn't really mention the total of sixteen weeks of Tx, to include sixteen doses of four different types of chemo, 35 daily rads sessions wearing a mask and bolted to a table, and the 35 Amifostine injections in my tummy everyday before those rads sessions...
Or that I'd do it all again, and regret nothing...
I have all of my taste, saliva, and I'm not on any meds..., including all that I went through with the Whipple...
I'm a blessed and lucky man...., with a beautiful and caring wife that walked with me every step of the way...
The good, the bad, and the ugly..
Thoughts and prayers to my abi-normal warriors...
~John

Wonderful
Hang in there for bigger numbers! You have been so supportive to us, hopefully we have been of some help to you. So thankful that you had and have your wonderful wife for support. No mention of the girls, I hope that they are still around to give slobbery kisses.

You are a leader
JG
you are leading me by 1year. today is my 5 year anniversary of completed treatment. you had whipple surgery and I had ORN surgery, so it has been a bumpy road, but all in all, a good and lucky ride For us both. i too have the wonderful support of my wife, Sandy. We Couldn't have done all this without great partners. let's just keep putting up the yearly numbers for another 20 or so, what do you say?
all the best to you and Shelley.

Congratulations
It does not get any better than that. You went through hell and back and a whipple too, but fought and beat it all. Also with all that going on, you were still there for all of us, giving support and an ear when needed. I know I thank you for when I needed it you were there with kind words and great advice.

John and Steve
Congratulations to you and your spouses. To paraphrase a saying, "What doesn't kill us makes us and our marriages stronger!" Despite the garbage we've had to go through in fighting this disease, there are blessings to be found. I'm praying you will all have many more years to enjoy them!

Congrats!
John,
Congrats on the great news! It's good to hear.
Your insights, personal experience and positive attitude were always an inspiration. I know your wisdom and whit helped me tremondously back in 2010 when I was locked in combat with the beast.
It must be the patient fisherman in you!

Amen Brother!
So inspiring to have you share this with everyone.
I remember our first days and how it seemed all so scarey of the unknown. Having you and others on this forum to share your stories, lend advice, and just being there was very comforting. We are now going into our third year cancer free and it is a wonderful feeling!
Thank you for being there for us and congratulations on your 6 yrs! You do have a wonderful lady in your life and it's obvious you realize that.
