Dear Friend,
About 75% of the time the radiation doesn't kill all the cancer cell. Surgery though should remove all of it clear margins. When the pathologist find living cancer cell on the border of the tissue that was removed means that there may have been living cancer cells left at the site. This is not optimal. They hope the follow up chemo will kill the cancer cell, but that is unpredictable. Make sure you follow up with this.
Hoping that everything will turn out right.

Since you have two doctors giving you conflicting info, it doesn't sound like they are speaking with one another. Is it possible for you to switch to an oncology program where they practice a team approach? One of the medical centers, maybe? If not possible, then insist that they DO speak with one another to work towards a unified plan.
