Hello --

I too have been diagnosed with primary peritoneal cancer, Stage IIIc or Stage IV, depending on whom you talk to and when. My diagnosis was in July 2012. Since then, I've been on chemo (Taxol, Carboplatin & now Avastin) almost continuously, except for a couple of months at the beginning of 2013. Also had surgery in Feb. 2013, from which 3 of 6 biopsies came back positive after initial 6 mos of chemo. The good news: I've felt well almost all the time, have responded well to chemo, and as of Sept. 2013 have been declared N.E.D. -- NO EVIDENCE OF DISEASE! Am hoping that will continue, and am hoping for only the best for you.

FYI, since diagnosis I've been writing about my illness at www.CaringBridge.org/visit/CaroleSeaton Sometimes the pages there don't load exactly right, but you'll get the idea.

Diagnosed the same time

Hi Julie,

we must have been diagnoised about the same time. I am stage 4 PPC and it will be 2 years dec. 29th. It's been a long 2 years but I am thankful to be alive. Take care!

Yes we were

I got the news December 7th 2011 so almost my 2 year anniversary. Not sure how to mark it! Might even crack a bottle of champagne to celebrate still being here! Yes a big two years and how life has changed! I certainly appreciate the little things a lot more, wish I still had my fitness but on the whole feel I'm doing OK. Starting a whole new year and seeing an additional Onc who is doing some interesting work I am told so hoping that will bring something positive onto my horizon.

Hi carol! I'm so happy for you! That is wonderful news. I just finished chemo after 6 rounds of carb/taxol and have been going well with the treatment. My ca125 began at 468 and gradually dropped throughout the chemo. I am feeling really sad at the moment because after seeing my oncologist today ( 2 weeks after last and final chemo) my ca125 has risen to 20. She said not to worry as long as it remains under 35!. That still doesn't give me hope. I feel really depressed about this and was hoping to have a happy Christmas and get down to single digits!. I'm finding it really hard to stay positive now. Why does it rise so much? I've heard of it going up a couple of digits but not this much and only within 2 weeks? Sorry about my sob story but I'm really happy for you. I want to be a survivor!!!!!

Hi I to was diag with Peritoneal cancer/ Ovarian Primary 3c and am currently on Carbo/ Taxol for 18 weeks...7down 11 to go and seem to be tolerating it with some sucess. It is a truly scary thing but with constant positive thoughts we can all be sucess stories... I have to believe that...My CA125 at onset was 8000 and after an 8hr surgery and 7 treatments was just 900...still a way to go but it's on the downside and it works for me...I would love to chat with anyone at any time , please feel free to communicate...And good luck to all...

Hang in there. Its definitely not a normal cancer. It takes alot of research and faith. I think i could be helpful a tad bit so ask away. my mom was diagnosed 4c ppc in 2011. She just got done her last round of treatments at the end of november. right now she's done. she is saving her catscan and blood tests till after the holidays. Just hang in there. I always was so sad. I used to have the worst time holding in the sadness. But i got use to it and came on here alot. its very nice to be able to talk to everyone.

Hi, Robyn --

My oncologist also always says the same thing -- "But it's still in the normal range." Unfortunately he can't say that any more. The lowest my CA 125 ever got was 15, after being approx. 2800 upon diagnosis. When I saw my surgeon in Sept., CA 125 had gone up a few points & I was stewing then. He too said, "Don't worry until it doubles, & then doubles again." Unfortunately I am now approaching that state. My CA as measured on Thurs. 12/19 is now 44, & the surgeon wants to see me ASAP -- which as it turns out, won't be until the day after New Year's. I'm hoping for the best but prepared to hear bad news. Meanwhile -- don't you worry, you still have plenty of space to go before YOUR CA 125 is out of the normal range! Please have a happy Christmas.

HELLO EVERYONE, i AM NEW AS OF TODAY RO THIS SITE, i WAS DIAGNOSED IN eEB 2008 AND MY ca 125 WAS 21

AFTER MY CHEMO TREATMENTS THE ca125 STAYED BETWEEN 5-8 FOR ALMOST 5 YEARS AND THEN STARTED TO

RISE SLOWLY, IT IS NOW 41, HAD pet-ct scan 2 DAYS AGO NO RESULTS YET BUT i AM SO SCARED BECAUSE

THE oNCOLOGISTS IS PRETTY SURE IT IS ACTIVE AGAIN,i AM HOPEING AND PRAYING FOR THE BEST, MY BEST

Hi I just read your post and was just wondering what stage your cancer is? Your ca125 seems to be relatively low! Hang in there and try to stay positive. I know that's easier said than done! Your ca125 looks in the normal zone so don't panic too much. Mine is going up again after it was 9 in May and now tripled! Not much we can do but eat healthy stay positive and surround ourselves with positive people and cherish what we have❤️

ppc to stage 4

hi bf my mam has just had a ct scan shes 70 yrs old and the the oncoligists dont seem to be in any hurry to perform a biopsy were all going insane my family

, my dad died 7 years ago to lung cancer ,

and by the time he was diagnosed it was just paliative care , he died 3 days after been diagnosed ,

any information would be great , i live in a small city , and honestly i dont think the doctors know what there dealing with , please any information please , every search i do on the net it just keeps bringing me to ovarian cancer , she had a hysterictomy 20 years ago but left her ovaries , but they cant be seen on any scan , please please any information please,

i just want to know what were up against here ,

Anyone out there a primary peritoneal cancer after total hyst?

My 57 year old mom was just diagnosed with primary peritoneal cancer after a total hysterectomy 1 year ago.. Awaiting a biopsy of fluid and a mass.. Anyone out there want to chat and offer support?

My 63 y/o

Hi Nikkio02,

My 63 y/o mom had a total hysterectomy 10 years ago. In May 2014 she was diagnosed with primary peritoneal cancer. started with a bloated tummy which we found out was ascites. Her CA-125 was approx 3,000. She had the debulking surgery and chemo. In March 2015, her CA 125 was down to 5! Last week (May 2015) her CA 125 had risen to 70. So, she started Avastin this week. Hoping it gets her numbers down. I hope your mom is doing well. Keep in touch! We need to support each other.
