Low Vitamin D levels and low platelet levels
I am 2 years post treatment and today I had my CT scan to see if I am still cancer free.
However, I'm concerned. Prior to my treatment I had blood tests done and my Vitamin D is low
so now I'm on meds for that. Also my platelets are low and my Mean Platelet Volume is high.
The doctor wants to see the CT scan results before going into decision making.
To say the least I'm terrified. I have been bleeding frequently rectally lately.
I won't see my Dr until this Wednesday unless there is something bad with the CT Scan
please send positive thoughts and prayers
Thank you
Barb

Try not to worry yourself sick. It took a long time for some of my blood work to get back to normal range. Bleeding is scary, I know, but I think most of us experience it from time to time. Radiation proctitis is a common side effect and can be long-term. I am thinking all positive thoughts for you!

I'm trying but my blood levels were good last year and now this year they went down. Darn this! ( I'd like to saw other words lol)
When I had my CT Scan done and they took the IV out they asked me if I was on blood thinners because they
had a hard time stopping the bleeding.
And thank you for your positive thoughts and support.
I hate this waiting game

Try to seperate your cancer & your blood tests! The CT & the labs are pretty much seperate! Your doc needs to explain better:(

Hoping all goes well
Thoughts and prayers coming your way, Barb. The waiting game is so hard.
I had a high resolution anoscopy under anesthesia in Jan. and when I woke up they told me they did a biopsy. Needless to say, I was freaked out and the anxiety just increased until I got the results (which were ok).
Good Luck!

blood test
Hi Barb. I just wanted to let you know that I too recently had blood work that showed some low lymph % and high auto neutrophl. I am 1 1/2 yrs. post treatment. stage 1, no node involvment. Recently, I have been having some burning and at times, blood. Went to my surgeon and am having a colonoscopy this Thursday. I am a nervous wreck. I haven't been feeling that great. I feel like I am carrying a low grade fever, even though I"m not. Just feeling chilled. I will send you positive thoughts and prayers, too. Noone understands except those of us who have been through this. Please keep us updated, as I will do the same. I would appreciate all the prayers I can receive.
Thank you for listening

Crap!
Everything is magnified with cancer. The radiation and chemotherapy has done a number on us through and through. I join everyone in saying try not to worry, easier said than done right? I sometimes let my mind run wild and envision all kinds of crazy/terrible things. It's difficult because we are constantly being checked.
I will keep positive thoughts for you and everyone else who is having issues. I have follow up blood work and scans next month so we'll have to support one another. We'll be okay.

I sometimes feel I have a handle on this cancer thing and then something comes up and I'm scared again.
I will keep you in my thoughts for you too

I remember reading a post not long after I found this board that said Wow - I didn't think about cancer today and I so was glad that I was not the only one who's thoughts were consumed by this disease and also glad to know that eventually I would go a day without thinking about it too. I'd like to think that I'm "getting over it" but every exam, scan and symptom put the fear & obsession back in me but every good report brings great happiness too.
Hope your appointment goes well, Barb.

New test results and CT Scan results
I can honestly say now I am 2 years cancer free!!! And my dr retested me and all my blood levels are normal!! With the exception of Vitamin D but hey... I'll take that. Also on the CT scan they did find a small 4.1mm cyst on my left kidney. I do have to go back in six months and have another CT scan just to check if anything has changed. But I'm not worried about it. I'm still happy and 2 YEARS CANCER FREE!!! YAY!!!
