Radiation Injury Help?

in Head and Neck Cancer #1

I'm nearly 6 months post treatment and have soreness along the untreated side of my tongue and some areas of the treated side. Medical Onc says it's due to radiation damage.

Anyone else encounter anything like this? I'm not sure what to make of it or how long before it's better. I'm assuming if it's nerve damage, it will take a long time to recover. 

There is nothing visible, no sores, swelling, etc. It's just very discouraging after going through treatment to deal with this now. Any help would be appreciated.

    bunny, i had 35 rads in oct.

    bunny, i had 35 rads in oct. 2009.  then laryngectomy 2/28/12.  I started having pain in my mouth about 2 months ago.  went to ent  but he said all looks good.  my tongue burns and so do the insides of my lips and gums.  i have no idea what could cause it since the doc said he don't know.  i do not have anything visible either. then yesterday, my very front tooth chiped so now i need to see the dentist.  i heard that about 5 yrs after tx, your teeth start to fall apart.  it is certainly happening to me.  last yr i had to have one pulled b/c it absessed.  all my teeth hurt sometimes.  this is extremely discouraging to me as i have always taken great care of my teeth.  some would say i'm a phnatic about them.  i'm afraid i will end up losing them all.  the tooth nexted to the one that chipped looks like the enamel is gone, as did the one that chipped, so i guess it will break soon.  i hope you are feeling better very soon.

    I frequently have the burnt sensation on half of my tongue but then I have been radiated 3x. Was constant, now comes and goes. MMW helped but don't know of any permanent solution.
