Living in a small town forever and loss
This can be a good thing and I will say that it has always been true for me. Monday, I lost a friend I have known since 5th grade, to UPSC. We were both diagnosed with cancer and went through our treatments together in 2010, supporting each other along the way. We both got better. I have remained well in spite of my double whammy of both breast and low-grade endometrial cancers. Then 2 years later she had her first recurrence of UPSC and she has been in almost constant treatment since. I will miss her as will so many members of our community. She was a one of a kind, always gregarious and full of life. RIP, dear friend, Yolanda Martinez Joy.

Prayers and comfort for you and your friend.
I lost a close friend in November to advanced eplithelial ovarian cancer. She had been diagnosed five years ago and was NED for 4 years. When I was diagnosed with UPSC in April 2013 she stepped up, pushed and pulled me through chemo, laughed and cried with me. After my progression and mets were found she was the first to call and talk about all of my fears and getting my mojo on for the fight ahead. Her mets were found shortly after that conversation and we fought together for six months last year. Shayne firmly believed we could both beat this. Now I fight on for her after she lost her battle. I almost call her daily for advice on the crazy chemo hair, our new normals and our deepening love for our husbands. We were friends pre cancer, newlyweds together and chemo sisters. I miss her.
I am so sorry for your loss of your lifelong friend. Hoping all of those memories will bring much comfort. I know mine do for me. Anne
