Cough has returned

I finished my big dose of steroids two weeks ago.  Each day my cough has been more frequent.  Unfortunately it is worse at night again.  I made an appointment with a pulmonologist.  I can't get in until March 10 th though.  So I bought some more cough syrup and cough drops.  I hope this doctor has some answers for me.

Hope everyone is doing well.  In peace and caring.

    Good luck, Ro

Hope this is resolved soon.  Did you ask them to call if they have a cancellation?  March 10 is really a long time to be coughing.  Maybe your oncologist can apply a little pressure for a sooner appointment?

    Hugs,

    Suzanne

Ro I was thinking about you a lot!!

Hi Ro, I am so sorry about that cough, I can imagine how annoying that can be, I am sure the Doc will find a cure for this real soon.  I think of you all the time although I hardly write you, you are such a trooper and this is just another hurdle that you will soon overcome. Take care Ro.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers

i do appreciate them.  We are going to visit friends next week, so the March 10 th date is okay with me.  My primary care doctor and onocologist have to send records before my appointment, so that will take time, too.

I had to get up to the recliner again last night.  I had two doses of cough syrup and my inhaler.  It is nice to know others are thinking of you.   In peace and caring.

    Bummer

I can't remember:  did you stay on a low dose steroid after you tapered?

Sorry to hear the cough has

Sorry to hear the cough has come back.  Hopefully they can fix it.  I kinds know how you feel about coughing all the time.

I have had a dry cough since November and all the cough drops, medicine and even getting steroids and antibiotics have not stopped it. I go back to my cancer dr in March and I will talk to her about it.  Just been going to my primary and once went to care now clinic cause I felt so bad.  Nothing shows up on xrays.

The people at my job make fun of me.  My boss has even bought the little bottles of whiskey and told me to buy lemons and honey for a hot totty.  I do not drink so it is a waste for me.

Any way I do hope they can find you some relief soon. Trish

I got some more prescription cough pills today

Connie I did not stay on a low dose of steroids after my taper dose.

Trish I tried a " Hot toddy" the other night when the cough woke me up again.  It did help.  I am not a drinker either, but  I wanted  some relief.  Last night I was awake at 3, 4, and 5 with coughing.  I finally got up to the recliner.  My poor husband is getting sleep deprived, too.

I turned in my permission to get records forwarded to the pulmonologist today.  I just hope he reads the records before I get there.  Thanks again for everyones thoughts and prayers.  I do appreciate them.   In peace and caring.

    Ro,

If the recliner helps, maybe this suggestion might, too.  My husband got a bed-sized wedge-shaped foam mattress cover which makes the head of the bed a few inches higher than the foot.  It helps us with our reflux, and I think you mentioned that you have that, too.  It may help the lungs drain better.  It's worth a try.

    Hi Ro:

I hope you feel better soon from your cough. Hopefully, the cough syrup and cough drops will help you in the meantime before you see the specialist.

You are in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to read this, Ro

So sorry to read that the cough returned when you stopped the steriods, Ro.  The constant disturbed nights must be getting you down and affecting your quality of life.  I do hope that they can find something to help.

    Still have the cough

i went on the Inspire board for lung cancer.  Several people talked about putting Vick's vapor  rub  on the bottom of their feet and putting  socks on when they went to bed To help with their cough.  Since my codeine Cough syrup, tessaloills and inhaler are not working, I bought some Vapor Rub and put it on the bottom of my feet.  The first night I woke up and coughed and coughed until I went to the recliner.  The second night I did not cough.  And today my cough seems better.  CRAZY, I know.

The funny thing is we were at CVS a couple of days later and someone complained about having a cold.  The clerk  told him to rub Vick's Vapor Rub on the bottom of his feet.  Other people must have heard about it, too.

I have been sleeping with a couple of extra pillows.  We may look into getting a wedge for the bed if the cough does not go away.  Connie I Am not on any steroids after I finished my last round of them.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.  They are appreciated.  We have been enjoying our Florida warmth and sunshine.  I feel sorry for all of you who have to deal with the cold and snow.  In peace and caring.

I'm glad to see that nasty

I'm glad to see that nasty cough is getting better. It must have been so hard to get your rest. Enjoy the warmth and sunshine! I live in Western New York and there is another snowy, sleet and rain combo storm going on outside my window.

We are in Treasure Island.  We went to see friends in Estero last week.  I used to visit Daisy (Mary Ann) when we went to see these friends.   I did not realize you were close to Fort Myers.  My cough is some better, but still need cough syrup and Tessalon pills.  Hope you are doing okay.

Ro I have been thinking about you

You have been on my mind and I want to let you know you inspire me.  I hope the easing of your cough continues.  I am heading in for Avastin number 10 tomorrow and my 19th infusion treatment.  I don't think often about the numbers but I started to think about my journey and my mind wandered over to you and yours.  Thanks for sharing it and being so encouraging and inspiring.  It really helps.

Keeping you in my prayers.  Stay strong and thrive!
