Found out about EC Dec.2013

Chemo& radiation therapy sucessful.

Surgery June 2014.sucessful.

Had a few issues, appetite,  dumping etc, but nothing major.

Aug. 2014 hit his head, bled,  bump formed, never healed .

Over next couple months growth got bigger.

Showed the oncologist who prescribed antibiotics and told him to see dermatologist.

Insurance issues and new patient garbage brings us to appointment with dermatologist 2 weeks ago,

Finally!

By then, 4 more bumps on scalp, 2 bumps upper lip , pain, and annoying.

Initial bump is huge by now, others look like the one did at first.

Kind of reddish,  almost cauliflower looking (big one, not little ones)

Cultures taken blood taken, dermatologist has no idea what it is other than not skin cancer.

Results are in but they won't give over the phone.

Appointment Thursday.

Anyone else ever heard of anything like this??

Not sure, but a couple of things to consider

Hello, I'm really happy that the chemo and operation went well. Another success story, how wonderful.

As to the problem, I am not a medical person, but if cancer has been ruled out, I would be doing handstands with the  pure joy of that news.

I have heard of a condition called folliculitis, where the hair follicles get infected and this causes bumps.  Also, carbuncles can cluster.

My husband had the Ivor Lewis three years ago and his immune system was so weakened by the chemo that he is prone to picking up all manner of infections. It might be logical to assume that it is a simple infection.Perhaps it will prove a minor thing t

o cure when you get your appointment on Thursday. I do hope so. Try not to worry too much, it isn't cancer, so how bad can it be!

    Kind regards

    Marci

    Thanks for positive words.
    I

    Thanks for positive words.

I sshould have been more clear, it is not SKIN cancer,  they did say that they were testing cultures for EC cells tho.

Another bump formed on chin last night.

This is so weird. Even dermatologist was baffled.

I'll keep you posted.  If anyone else knows anything,  feel free to leave a thought.

    So dermatologist called to

So dermatologist called to say don't bother coming Thursday,  you need an oncologist instead of me. It's EC coming out of your head.

Now we see about an mri to see if its surface or worse.

    Hmmmmm

I am really sorry that you

I am really sorry that you and your husband have to go through this...it is the first time I am hearing about this kind of recurrence... Surfacing of ec after the accident feels even more rare..was the original ec squamous or adeno? I truly hope you had a good meeting with the onc and they have a treatment protocol in place..sending you prayers!

It was adeno,  We went to new

    It was adeno,

We went to new oncologists due to insurance, he was very concerned and wanted everything done asap. Said if treatment didnt start asap, we would measure his life in months. Ordered chemo and set up port surgery even before the pet scan. He talked a lot about the cells and how with the first diagnosis the cells were so young and it was hard to tell which they were.

Before hubby got going on any of this, insurance throws another wrench at us. Can't use any of the places we've chosen, not even the new oncologist.

So we go to Cleveland clinic.  This oncologist is not convinced of the same treatment, as he is reading reports he sees original ec was adeno, biopsy of growths seem to be squamous.  Now im understanding why other oncologist talked about the young cells and how we couldnt tell the difference.

Dr. Told hubby he was in no immediate danger. Big difference from what other one said. He feels fine, but many morebumps have grown. Probably a dozen on his head, only one huge. 3 on face. I really just don't know how concerned we should be. Pet scan is Friday

Thanks for the info,  I joined the group.

I started another thread with more information,  as Fridays scan wasn't good,  and now thse growths just seem secondary in the light of everything else.
