Dietary Guidelines
I had an open incision nephroureterectomy (full removal of left kidney, ureter, adrenal gland, 38 nodes-1affected, and bladder cuff) the eek of Thanksgiving, 2014. Surgeon is 90% certain he got everything. Follow up ct scan was clean. I have been trying to find a dieticians guideline for eating but have had difficulty. I met with one twice now but I keep getting vague info. I exercised regularly and ate right before this happened to me so I have a good sense of proper nutrition, etc..., but I'm interested in specific foods to eat or avoid since I now have only one kidney. Any suggestions/links would be appreciated. God bless.

Sodium, fluid intake, less meat more plants
Reduce your sodium, drink lots and lots of water, eat less meat and more plants. Oddly enough, my husbands doctors are very blase about him only having one kidney. It seems that as long as it is working properly, nobody wants to really care about him only having one (except me, I obsess over it a bit).
I focus more on eating to prevent cancer than I do the "one kidney" issue.
