I feel so alone
For the first time ever, I am the sole provider for my little family of two. My husband has bone cancer. He is doing well but half of the time I feel like a mom instead of a wife - whih is only exacerbated by my being his caregiver. All joking aside though, he is at the hospital, alone. He is getting weary and hate being there, I can't be there with him because I have to work. I just it off and I have to go back in the morning, but I can't sleep because I miss him so badly. I'm sobbing because I feel so pathetic. I know I should go to sleep because I need rest, but I just want him To come home. I feel like a six year old who got lost in the store but my mommy alteady went home. I can't really talk to anyone about how awful I feel because their first question is, "how is your husband?" Meanwhile I'm falling apart and I'm so sick of sympathy. I'm so sick of pity. I just don't want to feel so alone. That's all.

I too am a caregiver for my husband so I know exactly what you mean about the nonstop sympathy and pity that seems to be coming your way. And I can relate to your frustration about not being able to be with your husband more because of your work obligations. I too am now the sole provider for the two of us and I can't afford to lose my job because I'm taking too much time off. Have you any friends in whom you can confide? Have you considered speaking with a therapist? Unfortunately the caregivers board on this site is not terribly active, so may I make a suggestion? You may want to try the chat room on this site. It is very active in the late evening. Also, please consider checking out www.caregiving.com. It's a site for caregivers and it's very active throughout the day. I've met some wonderful people on this siteand there's always someone who can lend you an ear.

Thank you. I'll definitely check that out. Unfortunately because of my work schedule, the times I need to talk are pretty late at night and my confidants all have normal jobs, so this will be helpful.
