If you had Type 1 (endometroid adenocarcinoma) and low grade, this is indeed typical treatment.  I was diagnosed July 1, 2010 and that's what I've been doing.  I was told that if it came back, it typically would appear at the top of the vagina which would then probably  be treated with radiation, but recurrence is rare.  Of course, it can come back elsewhere, but it's really unlikely.  Well, unlikely does happen, and you will worry about being one of the unlikely ones.  I'm here to tell you that 4 1/2 years later I am disease free with my only treatment being surgery and follow up exams and I'm confident that I will never see it again.  And it took about 2 years for me to gain that confidence.  Until then, I was being followed more often and worrying before every exam.  Now it feels like a social visit (except for the exam part).

If you had UPSC, MMMT or another of the Type 2 uterine cancers, or your cancer was a high grade (like 3), then you might want a second opinion. 

But it sounds like your doctor is following standard protocol because the treatment would be much harder on your than watchful waiting - because it's very unlikely to recur.

I was diagnosed with endometriod adenocarcinoma in August 2012.  Had a complete hysterectomy and no further treatment.  Unfortunately, we found it had recurred in October, 2014 and I am now going through chemotherapy.  I was told all the same things.....if it recurred, it would most likely be around the vaginal cuff....and so that is where they watched closely in all my follow-up appointments.  It actually recurred outside my abdomen at two surgery port sites (whether from the hysterectomy surgery or adhesion surgery in August, 2014, we are not sure). Apparently this is a very unusual place for it to come back but it did.

I was sent to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for the cancer treatments and also had a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  Both of them were in complete agreement with the decision to NOT have any chemo or radiation after my origina diagnosis/hysterectomy.  I trust the experts so if you have confidence in  your doctors, go with their recommendations.  It also never hurts to get a second opinion.  My experience has been that you just "know" when what they are telling you is right for you.  If you don't have that confidence, keep going until you do.
