just wanted to say hi to everyone. I was diagnosed stage 4 with peritoneal mets. I had surgery at time of dx to remove the primary tumor. I Started 12 treatments of FOLFOX with Avastin in November, and am almost halfway done, thank goodness! Chemo isnt for wimps, thats for sure!  Ive had the 'standard' host of side effects, nausea, diarrhea, fatigue, etc - sometimes well controlled, other days not so much.

i just had my 2 mos scan, and its clear so treatment appears to be working. keeping my fingers crossed that this continues. I will beat this beast!

    Welcome Robin

Good news on that scan! You're right about chemo not being a picnic but hang in there and you'll be done before you know it. By the scan being clear do you mean the peritoneal mets are shrinking or gone? It's great that the chemo is working. Glad you found us and keep us posted!

    Hi, thanks for the welcome.

Hi, thanks for the welcome. :)

my peritoneal mets are no longer showing on the ct, so basically we will assume they're gone. as my onc says though, its the ones we cant see that we need to get rid of.

    Thanks again!

Hi Robin, Its good news that the treatments seem to be working, and you are so right, chemo is NOT for wimps. It makes you realize how wimpy people can be when you here them whining about having a cold or the flu.

    Welcome!

It's a shame that you had to come looking for this place, but now that you're here, we're glad you came. This is a wonderful group of folks who have all experienced the same kinds of difficult challenges that you're up against. Chemo is, indeed, not for wimps. My favorite tee shirt right now reads "Hoping that chemo will give me super powers." I finished my chemo about five months ago and I can report that you'll be feeling better before you know it.
