Jen you are always so nice to

Jen you are always so nice to remember me when I have upcoming scans. I had my scan last Thursday but was going to wait on posting until I meet with my Interventional Radiologist tomorrow. I looked at the film myself and the 2 tumors like the way they should one month after an ablation. Basically it shows very dark black spots with well defined borders noticably larger than what the tumor was before the ablation so I feel good about it by I am not the expert.

The thing that I am concerned with is that over the past several scans my spleen has been growing and as a result causing my platelets to drop. Sometimes that can be attributed to chemo. Well I have been off chemo for almost 2 months now and the recent scan showed significant enlargement of the spleen since the last scan one month earlier and my plateletts dropped again after they finally started to increase on the previous scan. My speen is now borderline severe in size from what I have researched. Almost always an enlarged spleen is the result of an underlying cause from what I have researched. Many times the liver has a direct effect on the spleen. The other main causes of an enlarged spleen are Luekemia or Lymphoma. I dont want to even go there rith now. The spleen can enlarge after liver resection which has happened to me in the past and then eventually returned to normal size as the liver healed and regenerated.

I am thinking that maybe this recent increase has to do with the ablation on my liver. but it was also slowly increasing in size before then. So I went back through all of my scans for the past year and determined that my spleen was normal even during treatment until August. That was exactly one month after I had y90 radioembolization done to my liver. I will talk to my IR about this and my theories tomorrow.

The interesting part of all this is that my liver enzymes spiked after the ablation as they did after the y90 which indicates damage to the liver but just 3 weeks later they are all back to normal and my Bilirubin has remained perfect.

I mentioned to my wife a couple months ago that my spleen was enlarged, but that is when it was moderate. I haven't mentioned the recent increase to her because I don't want her to go through any added worrying until I get some opinions. I am hoping my IR says it is treatment related and we will rescan in a few months. I see my oncologist next Wednesday, so I will discuss it with him. I also want to discuss going back on ADAPT maintenace treatment assuming that the IR tells me that the ablations look good tomorrow.

BTW I have finally fully recovered from the ablations and have been mountain biking and exercising regularly for the past few weeks although not nearly as intense as a year ago. I have to keep fighting through every means possible.

Hopefully I will be able to report more definative positive results this weekend.
