My beautiful and courageous mother, Nelly Quiles passed away on January 1, 2015 at 8:55pm at the age of 73. She passed just as she had lived in life,  calm and soft. I was fortunate to be with her as she took her last breath. My poor father came running and sobbed so hard it broke my heart. They were married 44 years but had been together since they were teenagers. His grief is raw.

I'm so happy she is not suffering anymore. She was the strongest person I knew. She was my first friend, mentor, and loved me with all my flaws and faults. I am so grateful for all the good years I got with her. She was an amazing wife and mother.

I shall miss her every day of my life but I will keep her goodness inside me.

Thank you all for your love, support, and help over the past three years. It meant the world to me. At times you all were a better support system than her family.

She will be buried on Saturday the 10th of January, the day before my 43rd birthday.

    My deepest sympathies

    The loss of a loved one is ever so hard.

    As you have written, missing them never lessens yet we can obtain some solice from the fact they suffer no longer and remain in our hearts forever.

    You face another challenge, that of helping your father through his incredible grief.

    May you both find that time helps to bring the good memories to mind more often than the loss.

    Nellie, you and your father have my very sincerest condolences. It sounds like you were an amazing daughter and essential source of support to her, especially during her cancer struggle. I wish the very strongest love and strength to you and your father now, and that the goodness she bequeathed upon you will in itself be a source of courage for your whole life.

    to hear about your mom.  While her suffering is over, yours is just beginning.  The grief I am experiencing is something I never knew about.  Be gentle with yourself and your father, give yourself time to grieve and try not to let anyone influence you or your feelings.  Peace, Linda

    Your mom sounds like she was a really special person.  I'm so glad that you got to spend so much time with her at the end.
