Anti-oxident supplements
Before starting my CK treatments in 2010, my radiation oncologist advised me to stop taking any anti-oxidant supplements (i.e. vitamin E, C and others). His theory was that these supplements, while protecting healthy cells from damage will also try to protect the Ca cells that radiation is trying to destroy. I refrained from using any supplements (including a daily multi-vitamin) for three months after completing treatment: I would think that this is true for any type of Ca treatment. Here is an article published by the National Cancer Institute in 2008 that confirms this theory.

Hi YTW, While not
Hi YTW,
While not specifically antioxidants, these results are interesting.

Will start juicing pomegranates tomorrow as I don't trust what is in commercial juices and have ordered some of the 4 food combo capsules.

This new sudy done at Johns Hopkins, and summarized in the Wall Street Journal, did NOT include Pca, but concludes that of 31 common cancers, only 9 (around 30%) have identifiable genetic, nutritional, or environmental causes. That is, most cancers occur at random.
To repeat: it did not review Pca. The luck of the draw: We are all poker players in the game of life. Hard for many people, who demand "answers," to accept.
The study matches exactly what I have always believed on the subject. What the study does suggest is earlier diagnosis and curative treatments, when they are available.

anti-oxidents
Refering to my original post of Nov. 10th, may I repeat. "Anti- oxidant supplements (i.e. vitamin E, C and others). His theory was that these supplements, while protecting healthy cells from damage will also try to protect the Ca cells that radiation is trying to destroy." I believe there are no "absolute experts" on cancer. If there were, the save rate of Ca victims would be much higher than it is. But the theory of anti-oxidents intereferring with the destruction of Ca cells that radiation is trying to accomplish should be viewed as being reasonable.
