Monday Dec 15th** Pink Bus Anyone?
Seeing the new Oncologist Monday for my 2nd visit to him. In Sept he released me for a whole year and then a week later promptly called me back because of the CA 27-29 Tumor Marker Test being a bit too elevated... (in the 40s).
So...did more blood work a few weeks ago (this time at an independent lab) and see him Monday the 13th.
I have already looked online at the test and it is coming in at 38 this time......so not as bad as in the 40s but wish it were under 30. OH WELL......... If I had to guess, I would say that he might send me for another PET since it has been a few years since I've had that delightful little test. But maybe not....maybe he will see that possibly that the blood test just fluctuates for me and at my age who cares if it comes back anyway....?? At least that is the way we old people begin to think that the doctors think about us. LOL
I have chartered the Pink Bus for Monday afternoon at 1PM and any who care to ride are welcome.
(For newbies you can click on my picture or name and go read my home page for basic info on my BC)
Have a calm weekend if possible everyone........and pray for Eileen. Hugs, Glo

It went really well and he told me that if you are Triple Negative, which I am, if it doesn't kill you within the first 5 years that each year the odds are better........which I knew.
As for the tumor marker numbers........he said 30 and under is what they want......but in Sept it was 44 and a few weeks ago it was 38......however.......we have talked about it....and I really do not want another PET ...I've had about three of those things already and they are a bit dangerous in and of themselves (sort of like the radiation can cure you but also cause trouble)...you all know what I mean. My last PET was in 2011 .... I am 78 years old ... I'd really rather not get one and he said he agreed with me. He also said that I DO NOT HAVE TO SEE HIM AGAIN UNTIL JANUARY 2016 *** WOO HOO *** So in 2015 just have to get the Diagnostic MM next Sept.... Sorry I didn't post yesterday but had other things for Christmas that had to be done...mailing stuff etc..... You are all so wonderful to respond and ride with me......Prayers for all that you will get good news too.... we take it a day at a time. After I left the Oncologist on Monday I went by a Nursing Home where a Classmate lives...she doesn't know her own son any longer and is only one year older than me.......so there is always a reason for any of us to be Grateful...no matter what. Much Love... Stay Strong. Glo

Glad for you, no pet scan and another year free of cancer docs. Sounds pretty promising to me. Now just enjoy your holiday season. Sounds like you have kept a pretty positive, happy outlook. Glad you are still on the board. Your posts reflect your hapoy outlook which is pretty uplifting.

Sounds like Glo handled the ordeal with the help of those who jumped on and things are looking good.
Glo, the age thing is a factor to be considered, but only if it effects your overall health. And doggone it, you're only 78, not 98. You still seem young, healthy, and vibrant to me.
So happy everything went well for you. We will always worry - whether the odds are in our favor or not. We just don't worry so much anymore. I was ER+ and I worry about stopping Tamoxifen, yet I really don't want to take it anymore.
Happy Holidays.
