May God surround you and all related doctors/assistants with healing hands for your surgery. If you are going to University of Michigan, they are an excellent hospital. Please let us know how you are doing. Prayers are with you.

Surgery went from 9am to 3pm.
Surgery went from 9am to 3pm. unfortunately I was not able to have an epidural. First a low platlet count from an older CBC Kept them from proceding. Retest and platlet count was normal at153. Last minute attempted to add epudural. Two tries, two doctors were unsuccessful. pain is worst. But still manageable.
Epidural the as not meant to be.
So far off oxygen. NG tube our. Taking ice chips. Walked four times today.
Hoping for some bowl grumblings soon.
biggest issues were high blood pressure and high heart rates when walKing and elevated sugar count. A little drugs did a lot in combatting these symptoms.
Pressung my pain pump as i finish this note.
Thank You for your prayers.

I've read this over and over - was it sucessful? I'm sorry that was such a long surgery but wishing for the ultimate results of "we did good". Hoping you feel better very soon and please let me know how it went. Hoping you get pain free very soon and on the road to a full recovery.

I've heard that long surgeries are a good sign. They say that some surgeons call short surgeries 'Peak and shreak', meaning they get in but find that they can't do anything as the diseease is too advanced. So, I take your surgery as a really good sign of things going well.
Keep up with the walking, get that bowel moving, and you'll be heading home before you know it.
Prayers continue.
