It's Been Six Years Today
After this long you would think that I'd just move on with life and get over it especially when you are NED, but I've never been able to leave these boards. I'll have a break from the board usually at the beginning of the year promising myself and my husband that taking a three month break away is my gift to myself and him and that works and during that time but will sometimes usually sneak on and post, but you all are my family as well and still need you in moments of doubt, especially now that my brother has been recently diagnosed. This day is so painful as I've always remembered that Thanksgiving so many years ago that I've put on a happy face, not letting anyone know what I've found out and pretending that all was well. I'm grateful to my God for staying with me, my family that have given me much support and you all here that have given me the information and love and understanding that we can't except from our family or even our doctors. So this post is in Thanksgiving to my six year anniversary, my love for God and love for all of you. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you and may God Bless you this day. May all in treatment, scans waiting and tests to be had be known that you are prayed for daily.
Hugs! Kim

Congratulations!
Six years. Wow!
I know they have not been easy six years, and Cancer is probably never far from your mind, regardless of wether you come to the forum or not.
I for one admire your desire to stay and help others along the path. You are loved and cherised for your compassion and knowledge.
Happy Thanksgiving, Kim!

Thank you for your kind words of wisdom and encouragement and for staying on the boards. You give us relatively newly diagnosed something that is crucial in this fight and that is simply hope. There is plenty of pain and suffering, lists of those who have passed, frustration and anger etc. It can be overwhelming and frankly terrifying for someone who hears those words 'You've got cancer' and goes on line to find others in the same situation. Stories of survival and those magic three letters 'NED' are a much needed balance and music to the ears of someone who is just starting their cancer battle. The compassion we show each other is one of the inspiring and good things about this fight, the fact that you feel compelled to do it is a testament to the goodness in your heart. Again, from me to you, thank you.

Amazing Woman
Congratulations on 6 years! I completely understand staying on the boards. There is not "getting over it" with cancer. It stays with you and marks you in unexpected ways. And even though you're NED, the possibliity of NOT being NED is always lurking somewhere over your shoulder. At times it is far away and at other times it seems to loom and cast a big shadow. I know I'm grateful you're on the boards. Happy Thanksgiving. No secret this year, and what a blessing!
Hugs,
Kirsten

G'day mate
I am very happy for you to reach this milestone. You are a very special lady and I am proud to have been here with you for those six years. By now you know well what I mean when I say surviving survival is not easy. Sure we may do it tough at times but we do it with style. Hugs Ron.

Congratulations on 6 years.
Congratulations on 6 years. Please always know that we are always here for you as you have been here for us. Take a break if you need it. I have tried to take a break from the forum several but could never stay away more than a week.

Congrats on your anniversary and thank you for your staying power. Your brother's diagnosis probably makes this a bittersweet anniversary but know you have given many here, and hopefully, your brother, reason to hope.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Five Years
In about 3 weeks it will be 5years since i WAs diagnosed. Being NED since 2010 is nice and not much reason to still be on here. But you people helped me so much when I was enduring the trials of cancer, how can I not stay on the board and offer help and hope to those who follow? A happy Thanksgiving to you all---and may we all be NED next thanksgiving!!!

Congrats on 6 years!
I have to be honest, I am glad you decided to return. You would be dearly missed if you left the boards. You are such a wonderful addition to this group. Thank you for all your strength throughout the time I've been on here.

Congrats Kim
It's wonderful to hear that you've hit the 6 year mark! It's great news.
While I've only been posting sporadically for the past year, I feel it's important that us "old timers" stay connected to this community. I believe it provides a much needed service to our fellow friends/members. I wish you continued good health!
Enjoy the upcoming Holidays

kim you look wonderful... It has been three years since I have been on this board... I stopped reading and participating for a long time because it was so draining and depressing ... I have missed these friends and discussions and it has been saying on my mind for sometime to come back. I wasn't sure if my friends would still be here... So just wanted to say hello again!!!

Yup my husband broke down in tears too on the ride home. It was a silent ride home with lots of tears. Praying that you will become NED soon as I've followed your story for some time and you have been NED for a time before getting a bad break again. You are living life big time from your posts and I'm so glad you are. I'm so proud of you for your commitment to life and your beliefs. May you keep bringing on the fight and striving for everything positive which you always do .
