Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!
Happy Thanksgiving everybody! I am so glad to be alive to celebrate this day. For those of you who can eat, enjoy it to the fullest. For those of you who can't, I hope you can find some way to partake. The Stivarga (or nighttime mouth breathing - I am not sure) has given me little cuts in my mouth which make chewing hard and sharp foods painful, so I'll be noshing my meal like a street dog gingerly eating a chicken bone, but you know? I don't care... I'm just so glad to be alive, I just don't *&^%n care anymore! I will be the last to leave the table and my food will be cold but I just don't *&^% care,
Have started helping my Mom cook - she's working on the stuffing now, and I've had my face in the bowl about four times just to sniff it. I made pecan bars last night, and after the turkey goes into the oven at 9, I will start the rolls. Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday and will treat this year's as if it could be my last. This is my third T-day since diagnosis, and having cancer has made me notice and appreciate everything more. I'm glad to have energy this year to be able to help prepare the meal. My first year of diagnosis, my Mom was unable to cook so I did the whole meal and managed, but as soon as we were done eating, I went to bed!!
Our meal this year is as follows: turkey, two kinds of stuffing - regular bread with sausage and apricots in the bird and cornbread and sausage (not sure about the oysters) outside, mashed potatoes, gravy, homemade cranberry sauce, fig chutney, brussels sprouts, butternut squash, parker house rolls, and cherry pie and pecan bars for dessert. The rest of the family will have wine and I will have soda or tang. For one day, I can honestly say life is good.
anybody else want to post their t-day menu? Bet we get a lot of variety, since we all hail from different parts of the country and have different traditions.
Happy Day everybody!!
hugs,
Karin

Happy Thanksgiving Karin and...
...all of you. I appreciate your upbeat attitude and god bless you for it.
This is the first Thanksgiving we spend with my new mother in law who is a sweat heart. She and her daugter banned me from the kitchen and I can only judge the menu frim the aromas coming through the keyhole to my bedroom and it's all good.
Have a good time all of you and let's spend a minute to think about those that can't be sharing this dsy with us.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone
Thanksgiving is not something I grew up with, being English, but I certainly enojoy every moment of it since moving to America.
My husband is working and will not be home until seven (14 hour day for him), but I will be heading over to his sister-in-laws house where the family will gather. He has five sisters all with families, so its a big affair.
My family seem to think that I make the best potaotes on earth, so that is the main part of the dish that I take. I also make a Thanksgiving Wassail and bread rolls. Yesterday I made Almond Coconut Cranberry Bread, one loaf for family and I shared the second loaf with the neighbours.
The rest of the family bring an assortment of foods, mostly the traditional Thanksgiving fare; turkey, green bean casserole (yuk!), stuffing, pies.
I am not going to look back over these past years, but I'm looking forward and thankful for every moment that I get to share life on this earth with those I love; most importantly my husband and two wonderful boys.
Blessings to everyone!

Laz I thought you'd be cooking, since your wedding menu sounded so amazing (think: chocolate orange cake.) Trubrit - I will PM you for the bread recipe. I think I have had wassail once. I'm with you on the green bean casserole.

I am also making Orange Cranberry Sauce. Nothing comes out of a tin if it can be made at home. This is a delightful sauce, served warm or cold. I shall also make Cranberry Chutney and hand it out as gifts in small jars.
I will send the bread recipe along, Karin.

My wifes family came over so
My wifes family came over so we had Korean food for lunch and then will have a traditional thanksgiving dinner. I am extremely thankful to be here for my 10th thanksgiving since cancer and I am extremely thankful for my family here and at the same time saddened for all of the great people that we have lost from this forum. Another cruel trick by cancer. Cancer brought us together here then cancer randomly takes our friends away.

Happy thanksgiving
Everyone! I'm thankful for my CSN family. We've been cooking for two days and the house smells great. Whatever the future may bring this day is perfect and I am a lucky man. May you all be surrounded by love and food, and food, and food Ha!
