Post-treatment goals, fingers crossed.

After living through cancer treatment, I have achieved my first post-treatment goal: on Saturday, I got to see the new 12th Doctor land on BBC America in his TARDIS! Yes, in the past few years, I've become yet another Doctor Who fan. Better late than never...

    goals!

    Whatever our goal is it is so great when we get there.  One of my not so early post-treatment goals was to go out to a movie.  For years I had gone to a weekend matinee almost every week. It was 5 months after treatment that I felt like I could sit for 2 hours with my special donut pillow.  I saw Silver linings playbook and walked home so happy

    Ahhh, yes, the good old days!

    I so know what you mean, jcruz. That was a great goal, alright. It has been ages since I've felt that I could go out to any activity other than a medical appointment. Movies that I'd like to see on a big screen just come and go without me. And sushi from a good Japanese restaurant - how I miss it.

    My medi-port is very uncomfortable. I frequently wake up to find myself sleeping on my side with the thing feeling like it's scratching me on the inside. (It's probably muscle spasms, though?). And those sharp pointy things the infusion center nurses periodically stick into it to flush it! (I have a deep-seated skin-integrity-violation phobia.) So, I'd love to get rid of the thing.

    Another goal met........

    Attended Oysterfest at Wellfleet, MA on Cape Cod. It was delicious therapy both to the taste buds and to the eyes. I love Wellfleet!

    I was able to get The Uncle into respite care for a week, thank goodness! As he is a WW 2 veteran, I switched him to the VA medical care system and as part of their program, they provide 30 days of respite care per year and pay for more equipment than Medicare and even for home MD visits if that ever becomes necessary.

    I enjoyed the series but not so much the final episode, it was a bit too much I thought!

    I recommend my favourite tv program: Inspector Montalbano - if you like European programs! It's an Italian crime drama, really really enjoyable!

    Adam26, we are lucky to get BBC America on our cable package. Yes, I refer to Peter Capaldi. I missed the next-to-last episode, so the finale was a bit disjointing. I think Capaldi did a interesting take on The Doctor, but I grew weary of Clara. Her boyfriend was a far more interesting character, but they knocked him off! Is Inspector Montalbano braodcast in Italian, English, or is it subtitled? I'll look out for him.
