Could I Be Any More LUCKY???
In ER twice last weekend before they discovered that my EXTREME pain was due to stress fracture in left hip!
Admitted overnight for pain control.
But, being the trooper that I am (Hawk! Spit!) I pulled it together and had my first Herceptin treatment on Wednesday.
Now awaiting for consult by onco man and bone man to decide if I need rads on cracked hip.
Ebola, here I come!

NO WAY....
NO WAY ZAH........ please don't even jest about that one............. So what do they do for a person who has a stress fracture of their hip? Are you in wheel chair or using crutches or what? And what did they do for the PAIN? ..... I read a book once written by a Viet Nam Vet and he talked about taking the Pain and puting it inside of a Triangle that you imagine to be just above your head.........he said just take the Pain and place it there. Stranger things have happened....and like Answered Prayers...it is worth trying.
Hugs and Encouragement for better days and nights............ Glo

I am very sorry for your pain. I hope your docs have you medication for pain . Your infusions will help bone to heal. Ask for orthopedic doctor to evaluate your hip. Hugs

Glad they found the fracture and are treating it.
Sorry that you have to go through all of this. I didnt get from this whether or not younhave been diagnosed with bone mets, what I do know is that rads has helped with the pain from the bone mets to my hips. Looks like ypu have been thru a lot with all of this. Wish you the best and really hope they get the pain under control.

which has it's own lovely set of side effects, is keeping the pain under control for the most part.
I am moving about on my own with a cane although veeeeery carefully.
Doc said healthy bones would heal from a fracture such as this on their own but with my bone mets I may need rads to help the process along.
It just seems like one step ahead and two steps back sometimes.
Frustrated because plans to visit my daughter in Florida this fall have been delayed, maybe permanently.
Thanks for your support.

I have mets to bones.
Good to know that rads might be helpful with the pain.
I am just hoping to maintain what mobility I have left for as long as possible.
Thanks for your support.

I just needed a place to get that rant off my chest.
I try not to fall apart in front of people around me because they panic when I do.
But I always know you guys here can handle it because you have been through it, or something similar, and understand that sometimes a good rant helps more than pain meds.
I really have a lot to be thankful for, and thanks for reminding me of that.

ZahZah. so sorry to hear of your bone mets and and fracture. I have never had bone mets or a hip fracture so I cannot say I know how you feel but I am sure you are in alot of pain. One thing I can relate with you is taking one step forward and 2 steps backwards. It has been a rough year for me but both of us are going to make it. Take care of yourself and please do not fall. Thats what happened to me and the worse followed. If you have to have rads I hope they help and that you get to visit your daughter in the fall. (HUGS and PRAYERS) Pixie

Sorry to hear you are having a rough time too.
But yes we are tough and things will get better.
Falling is a huge fear for me now. I am being very careful.
If I can't get to my daughter she will come to me but I would rather go down there. It is Florida after all.
Hugs and thanks for the support.

Ah Zah I am so sorry you are having such pain, no fun at all! I am glad to hear that you were able to have your first treatment! I know you are a trooper, but be good to yourself too! Extreemly gentle hugs coming your way!
RE
I made it through yesterday without pain meds and it was ok.
Surprisingly, it seems that moving about a bit is better than sitting or lying around all the time.
Still not jumping through any hoops though.

My third Herceptin treatment is coming up the day before Thanksgiving.
Second one went fine and I felt good the next day.
What a relief! After the first one where I 'reacted' I was sure glad to have a positive outcome that day.
My port is great and went in without incident.
Now just to stay the course for a year or so and hope the Herceptin does it's thing in a good way for me.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Zah
