"Scanxiety"
Hi Folks,
Tomorrow is yet another scope poke and prod. 19 months out and just about two years since my diagnosis. I'll be on the road at 6am and off to Baltimore. I don't anticipate anything negative as I feel pretty much the same as I have the last 6 months to a year but there's that nagging "scanxiety" digging away at me. I feel Ok for the most part but there's that pesky "what if?" voice is whispering in my ear. I didn't take the chill pill this time around as I thought I had things under control but damn if my heart isn't beating a little harder this morning and I've been as irritable as hell all weekend! Every little thing is close to setting me off! From stupid drivers to my computer not loading quick enough... Arrggg! I just feel like crawling into a hole until it's all over.
Anywho... this is a safe place to vent and I know you understand. I'll let you all know what they say.

Don't dig a hole....
...come up here....by the ceiling fan by me!! Keep giving yourself the test..."do I feel different?"...."no lumps or bumps?"...."is everything the same as it was last week when I wasn't nervous?".....I have to do that constantly before a scan....to remind myself that this week is no different than last week.
Sending positive thoughts to follow you to Baltimore....I know I'm going to be seeing NED here tomorrow.

T, you know we all understand
T, you know we all understand too well what you're feeling. unfortunately there isn't much you can do about it but suffer :0( i'm sure all will be fine but i know that little voice just won't shut up. praying your nerves will calm down and let you have peace and we'll be waiting to hear your good news.
God bless you friend.

Understand what you're saying T
You are nervous before and when the Dr has the scope you hang on every word, and how he phrased it. Then you will hear Looks great, see you in six months...NED Then start breathing again.
You will be fine but as always, your in our prayers and good mojo your way.

Aaaannnnd?
N.E.D.!
My surgeon said everything looked "beautiful" and I could put thoughts of reccurence behind me. I think I'll always have a little "what if?" voice whispering in my ear but that was about as encouraging a report as I could ever hope for.
He referred me for acupuncture to help with saliva production and neck/shoulder pain but all in all, despite the "new normalties" of post treatment, I'm doing well. Next check in Feb. then onto the two year mark!
