I watched the video, and even

I watched the video, and even though I have never seen a photo of him - he was exactly as I had imagined him to be. The video exuded his personality exactly as I had expected him to be - even just to have known him only virtually. In the video you could feel his good natured personality, his kind heartedness, his goodness. I know you all will understand, as only this group would understand, the nature of our great loss. I am not ashamed to tell you that I sobbed my heart out when I read the very shocking and sad news. I had a heavy heart all day and still do, as I am sure most of you who knew him (from CSN) can relate to how I am feeling. I am sorry for rambling...I am so upset and shocked about this.

This is a reminder of how very precious life is. Hug your loved ones a little closer today - and every day after.

    Big hugs

    Jojo

    Shocked and saddened

It was exactly a year ago this week that we got the same news about Tex.  Ron had even posted recently about that upcoming anniversary and how much he was still missed.

I am just shocked at how quickly this happened.  It wasn't that long ago he made the trip to the Isle of Man.  Ron was such a positive person and I will miss him dearly.

I just cannot express how much this hurts.

    Love ya Ron,

    Kathy

    Sad!

Hi Jojo, I like you have been crying all day, I haven't been able to think straight since the news this morning. It is fantastic to have such a wonderful support group, to maintain such a unique type of closeness, but the pain when losing someone is unbearable.

    It was a lovely video!

Dang,  I am away for a few weeks and suddenly was drawn to check in and recieve this bad news.  Very sad and thanks to those posting the video.  I did not know him as well as I would have liked, but he was a constant influence here and always positive.  Very sad.

    Another video of Ron

there is a video of a speech Ron gave to the Smart Patients community this past summer just before he took his trip.

he is not only positive but looks great; I don't know how to post the link but others on both forums may be able to.

    No!

I lost count how many times I wrote on this site "Rest in peace, you will be missed, my condolences, etc. etc."

I can't write these words anymore, not for Ron. I can't put Ron and death in the same sentence. He was so full of life, so funny, to sensitive to the suffering of others.

Wherever you are Ron, I hope you get to do what you love: ride you bike, crack jokes, flirt with pretty nurses. See you soon, man.

    Hi Alexandra,
    I know Ron

    Hi Alexandra,

I know Ron loved your posts...loved to joke back and forth with you. I always enjoyed reading your conversations - you, Ron and Foxy sure had some good quips going.

In fact, didn't he change his avatar picture because of you?

    Take care!

    Hugs

    Jojo

I am so sad to hear this

I am so sad to hear this news. He was such a support to Mr B and me when we first started here. I hope Mr B, Texas, and Ron are together laughing and having a drink. Cancer sucks.

    Hey Jojo

Yeh, I sent Ron this picture.

Ron used to come to the Ovarian board, post about research and support us there. Not only because of his Michigan cousin with OVCA, but because it's just the kind of man he was. I'm crying. I haven't cried in 40 years.

    Hi Alexandra,
    Ron certainly

    Hi Alexandra,

Ron certainly was special. I know that when he lost his cousin, it was a hard blow for him. I can't stop crying either. I know my husband doesn't understand why I can't stop crying. Hard to explain. But I don't have to explain it here. Everyone here gets it.

    stunned

I was having a gut feeling. I had even intended to post a "Where are you Ron" thread today.

We used to talk alot about keeping positive attitudes and living life.  Some believe that having a positive attitude when our prognosis is grim is like being in denial. They don't understand. It is about enjoying every breath you take while you are able. Ron had the concept mastered. He raised the spirits of all he met here and I'm sure all that provided care for him since his diagnosis. Never once did he even consider the "Why me".  Even when feeling poorly, Ron was on this forum looking to help someone with advice or just to raise their spirits. I hate cancer. Keep the shiney side up my friend. RIP.

    Hey Foxy,
    I am sorry that

    Hey Foxy,

I am sorry that your gut feeling was right on this one. You and Ron both were always such advocates for positive attitudes and living life. I have a feeling that this will hit you especially hard.

    Hugs,

    Jojo

Thanks for sharing the link. His spirit LIVES in all of us. His ability to continue to live life as he fought cancer is something we should all try to duplicate.

    He will be missed.

I never met him in person, but I am a better person because of him.

I read this last night and

I read this last night and was so shocked and saddened by it, I couldn't respond.

Ron, if you're out there watching over this board, please know how much everyone loved you!  You were so kind and supportive to me last year when I was dx, and I'm forever grateful.

My condolences to his family and all his friends.  He is missed.

    I'm just speechless, hearing

I'm just speechless, hearing this today.  I read it first on SP and had to come here to see if it was true.  This is a gut-wrenching truth about this vile disease......it doesn't play favorites with who it takes! DAMMIT!!!!DAMMIT!!!!!DAMMIT!!!!  Rest in peace, my funny, naughty friend.  Maybe we can all have a party together one day and you can teach me to ride a motorcycle.

    Ron

I had such a hard time believing this yesterday. I'm a little embarrassed to admit that because I read this news online, I just didn't trust it. So I sent Ron a text message and an email yesterday inquiring about him. There's been no answer. I was hoping I'd reach a relative at least that could let me know more about what had happened. Nothing so far.

The last times we talked, I wasn't aware that he was ill enough to be hospitalized. He never mentioned it. I wish I'd been in touch more. I hadn't talked to him much since his trip overseas.

I'm still in shock. So very sad about this news.

    We will miss you Ron.

Peace to you and your family.

    Awww, Crud

I hate cancer...I'm tired of having cancer, of being reminded that it's a sh---y disease, and I hate hearing about  someone we "know" and love has been consumed by cancer.

    Nuff Said.
