Cost of meds.

in Breast Cancer #1

I feel pretty fortunate. Saturday I went to Target to pick up Duragesic patches. It rang at $1781.00. Told the clerk there must be a mistake, that my co-pay is $10.
Phamacist came out, saud they just changed cpe system and it dropped ins info from most ofbtheir accounts. Easily fixed just had to put in my ins.
I knew it wasnt cheap, but that is outrageous. I asked if people really paid that much. He said some of the cancer meds and chronic illness meds run in the thousands each month and a lot of the ins companies no longer pay for them.
This is really scary. We work hard all our lives and to know that meds are out there to help people luve, and that they cant get them because they cant afford it.
I watched the episode of 60 minutes a couple of months ago and have a brother that is trying to get qualified for a study so he can afford the chemo. His ins wont cover it. It is his only option but it runs $132k for the year, on the trial it will run $10,800 for the year.

This is the month to be thankful and I can honestly say, I am!

    Medicine is crazy expensive.  To top it off, my husband accidentally pick up prescriptions for Exestemine three months in a row that I had quit taking.  I now have these pills and don't know what to do with them.  Does anybody?  I hate to throw them out when somebody else might be able to use the medicine.  Does anyone know if there is a legal way to donate it?

    Prescription medication that isn't needed anymore

    Where I live the sheriff department takes them.  Ask your pharmacist who collects them.

    They often go to 3rd world countries, even those that are expired because in reality, they are not expired and still can be used.

    outdated --prescription glasses, are another item needed by many countries.

    Glasses..... Lions Club

    The Lion's Club here in Florida collects old eye glasses..... they have donation boxes all over and it is a good cause..

    I remember when my husband died I had a Pantry full of Meds and didn't know what to do with them....some were so expensive....it is a shame to just discard meds that may be needed.

    i turn them in at my onco.
    I dont know what they do with it from there, burt it is better than flushing.
