New here, post hysterectomy

Hi, I'm Crystal. I'm 37 and live just north of Pittsburgh PA. I was having severe bleeding that was requiring me to get iron infusions and blood transfusions. I've inly been sick since June, 2013. I went for my yearly exam in August and my doc immediately ordered an ultrasound and d&c. The d&c results came back as Cancer on September 8. Luckily she referred me to an amazing GYN ONC and I was able to have my hysterectomy on October 8, 2014. due to the huge tumor I was unable to have laparoscopic

    Welcome Crystal

Welcome to this group of great women.  I am so happy that I found them and equally happy that you have found them.  They are a wealth of information and so very caring.  You've joined the peach sisterhood.  Feel free to post with comments, questions etc.    Do you know what kind of cancer you had and/or a stage?   I was diagnosed June, 2013 with a rare type of uterine cancer called Uterine Papilliary Serous Carcinoma (UPSC) and I ended up having a hysterectomy and chemo. because it had already spread.  I am doing well and now almost 10 months NED  (No Evidence of Disease).  The women on this board have provided alot of great information when I found them in April, 2014.

Take care and fight like a girl.

    welcome Ashnsam!

Sorry you have to find this site.  I live south of Pittsburgh.   How are you doing after your hysterectomy?   What treatment, if any, are you going to have?

    My best to you,

    Kathy

    Welcome!

I am also new to this sight.  I am 59 yrs old. Had the same symptoms, but mine were still considered pre menopause.  I was told you have to go at least one year without a period to be considered in menopause.  My mother was 60 before she made the change.  Heavy bleeding and long periods were normal for me all my menstrual life.  But like you I did the Ultrasound and D& C at the request of a new PCP.  I was dx with stage IIIC endometrial cancer in May of 2013.  I had total hysterectomy, 6 chemo treatments and internal and regular radiation.  I was 11months NED until my last CT in Sept of this year.  I had 3 or 4 suspicious spots.  Luckily they are lymph nodes and not tumors, and are not attached to anything.  But I have to do more chemo.  I hope this works for longer.  I am glad they found yours.  Good luck with your treatments.  Vent, vent, vent.  It really helps to know you are not alone..

    Blarneygirl - Welcome

Welcome.  Glad you found us.  Sorry to hear about your recurrence.  I had spotting or bleeding from Feb. to May, 2013.  My PCP sent me to an ob/gyn.  I had atypical cells on my pap test so had a colposcopy.  Colposcopy showed endometrial cancer and serous cells. That was June, 2013. They sent me to an ob/gyn oncologist and he told us it was a rare form of cancer called Uterine Papillary Serous Carcinoma (UPSC).  Told me that I had a 50/50 chance of it recurring within 5 years.  I had total hysterectomy and positive pelvic wash with atypical cells in July, 2013 and was staged IIIa.  I started chemo. in Aug. as soon as I was healed enough.  I finished chemo. in Jan. 2014.  I have been 10 months NED.  Monday is my next 3 month check up.  I was 51 at the time of diagnosis.

Stay positive and fight like a girl.

    Post hysterectomy here too

Post hysterectomy here too. I had an abdominal hysterectomy for five days ago, it was not too bad. I’ve been walking a lot in the city in the yesterday and today, do not feel ill.

I just sent “an answer” to my last post that was from the summer, it came under the headline “…hysterectomy in the near future”. But actually it’s post hysterectomy time now for me. It’s exciting/scaring to wait for the laboratory results but I’m happy to have the surgery done.

P.s. Kaleena, You have a wonderful picture!
