Denist for Dentures
Hey Gang went to see my doctor friday for a check up.He said everything looks very good.He liked how I have gained some weight back and the way everything is healing. He said the tounge flap looks very good.Even took pictures for a class he teach's at the clinic.Anyway we talking and I asked about dentures. He said lets wait till the next check up which is in Dec.Am wondering what he might be looking for.More movement in the touge, the jaw to heal and become harder? Was hoping he would say something unless he is waiting also to see if I am healing even more to handle dentures and chewing more of a solid food.Told him not very good at gumming food. Also found out why I will slur my words sometimes. The way I now have tounge tied the liquid does sit in the pockets of the mouth. As before the tounge automactic move the liquid down throat it take me longer.Guess I'll have to watch when I speak but he did say it will get better as tounge heals and use it more and more.

waiting
My husband waited the full year his doctor advised before being fitted for dentures and it was a wise thing. Following treatment tissues are swollen and take some time to return to normal which is required for a good fit. FYI, our insurance paid the cost of the extractions as they were considered medically necessary and our dental insurance paid about half the cost of the dentures as the were required due to an illness so don't give up on that without at least trying. Glad you are at the point of considering dentures. That's progress!

Thanks that will be just about a year when I go back. That might be why he is always probing and checking. They did the extraction during the surgery and do have dental insureance so that should help. Also heard that since it was done during surgery insurance could pick it for dentures.Am eating swolllowing just about everything. But I have to use my grinder as I'm not very good at gumming my food yet.
