Out of Africa
My husband and I just got back from safari in Africa. We visited South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Amazing amazing trip. The people we met, the animals we saw, the food we ate...all incredible. Such an experience. We were celebrating our 40th anniversary and my big milestone...5 years NED POST treatment!!! I was diagnosed May '06. After surgery, chemo, cyberknife radiation, clinical trial, more chemo i finished ALL treatment August '09. Just had a full body MRI, CT/PET, blood tests...I'm still NED and CEA is undetectable. It's been a journey...difficult, frustrating, scary, heartbreaking at times...but from Stage IV to NED feels great. Just wanted to give a ray of hope to those of you just starting this journey or those in the middle wondering if it will ever end. GOOD things can happen...hang in there and stay positive.
