FACIAL HAIR
Just curious how the men who had beards or mustaches were able to regrow them or not. Before I had my neck cancer I had a full beard and mustache, and what could be long and thick hair, now I cannot grow a beard or mustache. I get at best a well lets call it a 3 O clock shadow and then it just stops growing. I still have to shave it but miss the facial hair. As for the hair on my head it came back fine just not as thick but it to grows so much maybe 3 or 4 inches and thats it no more goldie locks for me. So again just wondering from my fellow Duck Dynasty look alikes what is your experience?

facial hair
i went through rads at 25 and now I'm 44 with no luck on the sides of my face, just mustache and chin. Yeah I really only had one beard in my life right before treatment and I too miss it, but just happy to make it through treatment twice. Hang in brother, God bless!

HAIR STILL MIA
About two years out, and I still have almost no hair on the right side bottom of my neck and right side of my lower chin and cheek. I came dangerously close to losing my mustache, (which I had since I was 4 years old), but fortunately, I just lost a very small bit off the right side bottom. For a while, there was no hair growth in those areas, but id did come back a little. I still don’t like the way a beard looks on me, so not only is the lack of hair not a biggie, it takes a little less time shaving in the morning.
I would have paid extra if they could have done something with the hair growing out of my ears, but no such luck. It remains much stronger and more vibrant than anything on my head.

I too have plenty of hair on the ears but lost alot on the face. Use electric razor and it takes 30 seconds where before 2 minutes. Yes the facial hair is minimal as well as around my neck on shoulders, back and upper chest. Use the have alot of hair here but its like I have a donut effect around my head. The new recent doses of carboplatin 5-fu have straightened the hair on my head and the hair on my arms and legs looks and feels like someone put a blow torch to these areas. Its growing back but it feels like sandpaper

Hairy situations
Hiya:
Initially I lost facial hair on the left side of my face and also just above my neck line. So I ended up looking like a barefaced older Buster Brown. But I think within the year my facial hair and the hair on the back of my head grew back. So I went from moustache to vandyke to hide that extra chin. Hair also grew back straighter and thicker. Go figure...

I still have the ability to grow a moustache, but not much else. No hair below the jaw line save for a few hairs just over the adam's apple, missing a large patch along the jaw on the left side (left side BOT - STG IVa)
I'm 29 months out of rads and if it were going to come back, it would have by now.
On the plus side, much easier to shave, not as many nick opportunities.

The Rad Onc lied about facial hair
I was told I would never have to shave again. I used to be everyday and sometimes 2x a day if I was going out for the evening. Now 1x or maybe 2x a week, unless I want to look scruffy and then I will go about 10 days. I can grow a mustache and a gotti, but don't have much left on the sides just in front. I could actually have it go all the way down under my chin to my neckline. But that looks funny with no hair on the sides.
But I can do Mutton Chops for side burns if I want. It all depends on the amount and areas that were zapped in radiation.
And this is after 14+ years since radiation ended.
