Update GSR
Hi All..! Yes I have been a tad quiet here.. sorry. Things are mostly OK.. no complaints.
Had a Cyberknife procedure early August for Met on Spine. The Cyberknife in turn caused major pain for about 6 weeks and it did get better. Still some pain, but I can deal with it.
Next about 2 weeks ago had pain in right foot, I thought it was broken.. Xray showed OK, then thought it was Gout, blood test for Uric acid was OK.. still no Dx. MRI is next, maybe next week. I have a cane, but may get a wheel chair if the pain is too much.
Why next week you ask..? Well yesterday I took an airplane ride and here I am in Birmingham, Alabama. There are some awesome Vintage races at Barber Motorsports and Museum. The museum has both 2 and 4 wheel racers in it.. and I hear it is awesome..! I will be seeing many pals as well..
Next week starts the drill... scans, blood tests, Zometa infusion, Phlebotomy.. and the Onc visit. Get to find out if the Afinitor is working, hope so..!
Well, time for a quick shower a bite to eat and off to the track..!
Be Well All...
Ron

I’m no doctor but is it
I’m no doctor but is it possible the foot pain is caused by you adjusting how you walked due to the pain caused by the cyberknife? I know after I had bursitis in my hip, which was horribly painful, when it cleared up I had very bad foot pain and the doc explained it’s because of unconsciously adjusting how I walked to compensate for and ease the hip pain. Wishing you the best for next weeks tests and in the meantime, enjoy Birmingham!

All the best Ronnie!
Hey Ronnie, I wondered where you had got to. My goodness you've been put through the hoops recently, but typically you take it all in your stride. I hope they get to the bottom of the foot issue so you are not incapacitated for too long. However! not even a walking issue can interfere with you getting on with your life, you are such a tough nut Ronnie. As I was reading your post to the point where you took a plane ride to Birmingham, for a split second there I thought you were up North visiting the Brummies in the UK. I wouldn't have put it past you even with a bad foot. Sounds like you had a good time in Birmingham Alabama though! The weather would have been better than that of the UK too.
Sounds like you have a full week next week then. All the best with the tests, I will be thinking of you and praying for the very best results:)
Take care!

for a biker, huh?
My golf buddies are both fat and use carts. I walk. We played on tuesday. Here I am on mucho opiates, stumbling around 18 holes, swinging with just my left arm. But I had a grand time being outdoors. I got home and passed out on the couch for a few hours. What a wonderful day. I laugh because I know that if the forecast is for a small chance of showers, one of them will cancel. They don't like to be uncomfortable.
Have a great time Ron!

Thanks All..! Had a great day at the track. Barber is huge..! Almost Disneyland size.. not kidding. The paddock are is very large and on 3 levels. They do have golf carts to rent and a tram set up... But yes I walked.. I think I walked over a mile today. Oddly enough, the worst pain is now standing still.. walking is tolerable, sitting can be good or very bad depending on the chair. So, I took one pain pill before I left the motel, and one pill just before I left the track, not bad.
I found a bunch of my pals already, and more to find tomorrow.. Plus I have to get to the museum. They claim to have the largest motorcycle Museum, period..! And a pal of mine just told me that one of his old race bikes is in the museum.. I must try to find it..
There are a lot of "walking wounded" bikers here.. Many of them are racing anyway.. they suck it up and have a blast out there..
I got back to the motel to find my motel neighbor and his wife rode out from Southern California, via a lot of states.. in fact they just were in New Orleans yesterday.. And their travel pal is staying here too.. so we all ended up at the same place for dinner..just next door.. Waffle House.. nope not on the diet, but I was too tired to walk a few more blocks to something better.. I will save tomorrow for a better choice of food..
Time to call it a day.. I get picked up to go to the track around 6 AM..

I find a gentleman with a cane very distinguished and sexy.
I am no doctor, but a know a thing or two about pain management. You need gentle massage and hot tub relaxation. And better food than Waffle House.
If you have free time end October, I'm extending you an invitation to join me in Negril, Jamaica. If you don't leave with a happy smile, I will pay your airfare. And no pain, unless you ask.

P.S. Sharp throbbing foot pain could be peripheral neuropathy, a common chemo side effect. Try Gabapentin 3 x 300mg daily.

Ah.. I can always count on you ladies..! I got about 3 hours sleep last night.. but still walked a lot today. My foot pain is weird.. sometimes it hurts less to walk than stand or sit.. sometimes the opposite. Today I sucked it up and did not take any pain pills.. not sure if that was the right choice or not, but I made it.. Met up with more people I know.. nice..!
Alex, great offer... have to ponder it.. The one other issue is my back pain, which has been very liveable, until I get on an airplane. The airplane seats make me go backwards, pain wise.. But it is not as bad as it was in August.. I just need to give it a rest..
So, the massage and hot tub sound awesome... time to do a search when I get home..
Thanks again..!

Oh Ron~so sorry for all the pain you are enduring.. enuf!!!!
I had terrible foot pain on the top, middle part of my foot. xray showed no fractures. I hobbled around for months as I had no car at the time. Went back to the doc and repeated xray. The technician said she knew how to get the right angle and sure enough there was a stress fracture.
Exactly a year later, same thing, same part on the other foot. Have no idea why I got these stress fractures. Was never offered a boot or anything, still walking on it and so it took forever to heal.
Now as far as your back IF it were ME, I would see my beloved healer, my chiropractor who has these amazing, gentle techniques called B.E.S.T (bio-energetic-synchronizaion-technique_ and what that does is unblock the nerve pressure, inflammation to assist in relief and healing. It saved my life several times.
You are in my thoughts hon...so know that I do feel for you!! What a great guy you are..makes me sad if you are suffering.
I use a cane too.. have one that lights up, which is good in the dark.. hehehee
Gentle hug for better healing,
Jan

Well scan day tomorrow.. then follow up on Wednesday. My foot pain increases and decreases in intensity. And the last few days, I get what I describe as bone pain in a bunch of places in my body. But the foot pain has been a lot better most of the time. So, I know something is going on... hope to find out what and how to deal with it.
My back pain is due to the Cancer.. It has spread to my spine. I hope the Cyberknife took care of the large Met, but it has been 9 plus weeks now. It will be another month until I get the MRI of my spine.
I won't get nervous until after the scans... not bad.. hope the scans show positive results with Afinitor..

Well, here I am all plugged in.. the Zometa is about half done... easy peezy... But I got the scan results.. not terrible but not great.. First the good news.. no new Mets.. all my Lung Mets have shrunk.. My spine mets are Stabile. But those pesky Nodes.. some are stabile and some have grown.. The result is that my Onc wants me to stay on Afinitor for another 90 days. And no need for a Phlebotomy.. last Phlebotomy was in April. Overall, guess this is OK..
On the pain front.. guess I am to suck it up.. not the best news, but I can deal with it.. especially since the Cancer is held mostly at bay...
In 6 weeks I get MRI of my spine and neck areas...
Be Well All..!!

Stable is good news and male nurse... not necessarily bad. Sorry about the pain.
If I offer to come down to Cali and kiss the boo-boo, I bet CSN censors will yet again accuse me of indecency and remove the content.

your results sound really good; I guess I am still relatively new to all this so I don't understand the pesky nodes.
stable and shrinking are good; no cancer in the areas you were concerned about (the popping ankle).

Thanks all..!! Terry (the male nurse) has given me a Phlebotomy in the past.. so we know each other a bit.. He was dissappointed that he did not get to poke me and take out a half liter..
Now that I got the routine down.. it is much better. The last two times I did it sort of wrong. I had been going to the Blood lab and getting blood drawn. The lab does not put in IV's. So when I would go upstairs, two more pokes. Now I go upstairs to the Infusion group, they put in the IV and draw the blood. Then they tape the IV up, I do my Oncology visit, then go back upstairs for the Zometa infusion. A single poke..!
However, I think I will shave my arms for the next visit.. the tape just pulls it out anyway.. I hear women like the smooth look..!
Still, looks like I get to live with the pain... oh well.. a good trade off to get more time on my life clock..!
Be Well All..!

I've learned to get my blood work done prior to my infusions too. It has to be done by an RN if the IV is to remain in place for the infusion. ...After all this time, I still don't like needles.... I hope you get walking better. There are places to go and things to do. Forums to visit.
