Waiting and Concerned
In 1990 I lost my left kidney to RCC, 2004 partial right kidney at UCLA, 2007 prostate cancer. This August the cancer had returned to what is left of my right kidney and spread to my hip bone. Until yesterday I was able to walk almost normally but now pain has set in and it is difficult to walk. Next Tuesday the "team" at UCLA is going to meet and come up with a plan of attack. Between now and then I am to have a biopsy of my adrenal gland to check on a suspicious growth there. What worries me is the fact that when I was first diagnosed I was able to walk normally and now that the pain has set in I am worried that the growth on the hip is progressing. The last doctor that I spoke to said that if they find that there are more mets than just the hip they may put me on Sutent and not do surgery on the kidney. If there are no more mets they may remove the tumor in my kidney and the growth on the hip. This is all depends on what the "team" comes up with next Tuesday. My big concern is the fact that wheels are turning so slowly and the cancer continues to grow. That being said I do have faith in the doctors at UCLA. Anyway thanks for the opportunity to vent and I wish the best to all. This is a great forum.

Hope all goes well Tuesday!
Hi Firedude, I am so sorry you have so much to deal with at the moment. It's a bit of a wait until next Tuesday especially when you are in so much pain, have you some strong meds? It's good that you have faith in your medical team, there is no way that they won't come up with a workable game plan. I am sure after next Tuesday everything will start to roll into action very quickly.
All the very best, we will all be thinking and routing for you. I will be keeping you at the forefront of my prayers. Please keep us updated:)

I had mets in my hip also. It got to where I couldn't walk either. But I got put on a clinical trial of nivolumab. And that took care of that! Research the clinical trials in your area. There is much optimism in our treatments today.
