welcome to this site, but sorry you have to be here. I hope after your hysterectomy you have a low grade and stage of Cancer. Take deep breaths and take it one day at a time. I am glad you are seeing a gyn/onocologist. I hope your surgery will be soon, so you can eat and sleep again. Come back with any questions you may have. In peace and caring.

Sorry to read about another
Sorry to read about another diagnosis but you are welcome to the forum. I was also diagnosed back in July and am 5 weeks into my recovery from a Davinci hysterectomy. If your experience was anything like mine, the first week was upsetting and overwhelming. Ro is right though. Take it one day at a time. I would avoid researching the internet too much for statistics and such. In hindsight, one of the few things I would have changed if I could was going into every doctor's appointment alone. I feel like the first couple of appointments with surgeons were squandered because I was still in shock about my diagnosis. I had very few questions when I should have gone in with lots of questions. Good luck and keep us updated if you can. Ok?

It's great that you found this group. I'm so happy I found it too. I didn't find this group until after my surgery and chemo. were over and I was recovering. It would of been a huge help if I would of thought about finding a group before all this started. I was diagnosed in June, 2013 with Uterine Serous Papillary Carcinoma. (UPSC). This is a rare and aggressive form of endometrial cancer. I hope you don't get this. Anyway, please take someone who can take notes to every appointment with you. I have my mom and my aunt, my aunt takes notes and I have them even in the exam room. There's a curtain that separates us when they are doing the exam but I don't care if they hear what I have to tell the doctor's because they need an education as well. I figure, the more ears that hear, the more that Uterine cancer can be put out there.
Remember: The only thing worry does is to rob you of today's joy and it doesn't change tomorrow. One of the members of this board says it more elequently than how I said it. That has stuck with me ever since. Keep yourself distracted but do give yourself time to write down as many questions as you can. The ladies on this board can also help with questions to ask too. Don't feel like any question is not askable.
It's going to be a new journey. It can be good or bad based on your attitude. Choose the positive road with whatever comes. Be thankful for what you can. It's weird to say this but: I am thankful for my cancer because it has changed who I am to a better person, it's changed my perspective on what I think of people and I am more compassionate with people because we all have a story and we haven't walked in their shoes. Don't get me wrong, I definitely don't want it anymore. Sandy, you will be ok. Hold onto your faith (if you have one), know that you will be prayed for and you will be cared for on this board. I love this group. Welcome to the Peach Sisterhood.

it is interesting Jeanette that you say is about worry robs you of todays joys and doesn't cbange tomorrow.
my husband and i moved a 100 miles from my kids, we love it in our new area and found a home to buy (we are renting now). The bank accepted our offer the same day I got the news of my diagnosis.
needless to say i wanted to move back to where my kids are. But a friend of my husband says, keep living as if you will live another 30-40 years. I agree but am torn.
also all the docotrs and specialists i will be going to are in Seattle (near my kids). anyway will take it one day at a tme.
Glad I found this group too.

I had stage IVB, and my methodology was to expect the worst (who wouldn't with stage IV?). I figured I'd either end up as I'd expected or I'd be better off than I had expected to be. I'm still here four years and almost five months after surgery. I guess it paid off for me.

Sandy, feeling anxious is very normal, as are all the other things you are thinking and feeling. I think your "one day at a time" is a great approach. You have a gyn/onc to help you figure this out and get you through this.
Please come back to ask us anything and be careful of anything you read on the world wide web. I forgot which one of these lovely ladies said the information is old, and looking at dates on articles - it is true!
Take a breath and enjoy something special for yourself.

i had my robotic assisted
i had my robotic assisted hysterectomy last thursday. still recovering. going back to work Monday. two very small areas found in uterus, not through the muscle. sounds like stage 1. i have another appointment on the 28th of october. after tumor board. my need no further treatment or may recommend prophylactic brachy therapy x3.(radiation)
it sounds like good news for the most part.

Hope your final pathology is good and that you need no further treatment. I had the "garden variety" type of endoemtrial cancer in 2010. It feels good to say I HAD it. It will take time for you to get to my place of putting this behind me, but I hope you can get there, too. The odds are in your favor. In the meantime, we're all here for you.

Glad you found us
I was dx with stage IIIC Endometrial cancer in 2013. I had total hysterectomy and chemo and radiation. It was a long battle, but I made it. My tumor was also grade 1. Get all the info you can. Ask everything you think of. No question is stupid. My mistake in all this was keeping everyone else together. I had laproscopic surgery, which is fantastic. I went back to work in 3 days becasue I am a strong person and wanted to keep up my normal routine. That worked and it didn;'t. It did distract me from all that was going on, but I cheated myself out of recovery. You will know what you need to do to get through everything. But don't forget to take care of yourself in the process. It helps to vent. Good luck with your treatments.

When I found out I hadSandy,
When I found out I had cancer I was expecting it. I had been bleeding heavily for 3 weeks, 15 years after I went through menopause so I was 90% sure I wouldn't be hearing good news. I was 63 when I was diagnosed. First the shock of it all, I cried, of course, we all do. I went to my gyn/oncologist's appointment and took my son-in-law with me! I knew that I wouldn't hear everything I needed to and I was correct. You always want to have another "pair of ears" in the room with you! Cancer is not the worst thing that has happened to me in my life. I lost the love of my life when he was 50 years old so I knew if I survived that I could survive just about anything else. I looked at cancer this way; I said God gave me cancer for a reason, He wants me to learn something, or help someone, or meet someone. I did all three. The most important advice I can give you is it's all about attitude. Of course, we all have days when we cry and feel sorry for ourselves, nothing wrong with that as long as it's not everyday. The hardest thing for me was asking for help and we all need it when we're cancer warriors. Know that we will help you and buoy you up through your journey. God will be with you.
