misery
JUst got out of hospital. Seems a smallbowel obstruction. They discharged mee but I am still in pain. Feel like my abdomen is going to blow up. Just miserable,.
On a lighter note they did a ct of chest abdomen and pelvis with contrast in er and there appears yo be no evidence of cancer. Unless of course this obstruction is being caused by a tumor. Noone really knows.
Oh well. Hope I find reliefe soon. Hope all of you are staying well. I'll let you know what happens. Hugs.

hugs to you CC
Dear CC, I'm so sorry you are having pain and bowel obstruction, I hope they gave you something to manage the pain and that every day you feel a little better. I know that bloated feeling, very uncomfortable. I wish I had something to say to you to help you, just know that I am thinking of you and truly hope for you to feel better soon. So great there was NED on CT, take the little victories and relish them! Try to get good rest tonight and tomorrow will be a better day. Happy thoughts sent your way with hugs. Stand firm!

Thanks for all the well
Thanks for all the well wishes guys. Things are finally moving again and I am feeling much better. Still a little weak and tired but I think that's just from not eating much over the past several days. Been living off broth and crackers. But, this morning I made myself a scrambled egg so things are looking up. I hope you all are doing well. Hugs.

Greetings, ccfighter.
I am a cross-over from the anal cancer forum. There is a frequent poster there, mp327, who has periodic episodes of small bowel obstruction. You should contact her; she's very wise. You may have to alter what you eat in the future as mp327 did.
I recently attended a cancer survivor seminar where a radiation oncologst, Daphna Gelblum, from Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan, spoke about long term side effects of treatment. She said about 5-10% of people getting pelvic radiation develop a lasting small bowel obstruction. It may sound surprizing, but some of the small bowel is in the line of fire with pelvic radiation: http://www.netterimages.com/image/49154.htm
Whenever you start to get symptoms, act immediately by calling the doctor or getting to an ER as it can become an emergency very quickly.
All the best.

update 10/31/14
Finally saw my oncologist. She seems to believe the obstruction of my small bowel is being cause from treatment related side effect (surgery and radiation) but not from cancer recurrence. My pelvic exam was good, the ct scan in hospital showed no evidence of disease, my blood work is good....so....see you in three months. Also, if I want my port out of my chest, I can go ahead and have it done. Taking a long awaited deep sigh of relief.
Hugs go to you all.

CC, so sorry you're having problems with the small bowel obstruction, but on a happier note YEA!!! for the good exam, ct scan & blood work!!!! Great news that you can have your port removed!! It was such a big relief for me getting mine out. I still have the dang thing, thought I might make a piece of art with it. It's nice having the alien out of your body.
I'm doing the happy dance for you & sending you hugs, prayers & good vibes!!!
Congrats!!
Dana
