I miss my dad =(
Hello there everyone! I am new here. My dad passed away on 2013 Christmas night and he was only 56 =(
I am originally from Brasil but I have lived in Chicago for the last 11 years. When they suspected my dad had "something going on" , firstly they said it was pneumonia, they gave him meds and he went back home. After a few days, his shortness of breath did not go away and he went back to ER and they took another X-RAY and they saw nodules in his lungs. Little we knew it had spread from colon to liver and lungs. I flew to brasil to be by his side for biopsy etc... I didnt come back to the USA , I spent 4 months there because he was a precious jewel for me. He found out his mets cancer in September... and he passed away in December, I was with him when he died and the entire process of the disease was tough on all of us and the saddest thing I have ever experienced in my life. I had never sen anyone with so much passion in life like him. He was a musician and loved by so many people too. I still can't get over all of what happened and I had to go to the psychologist. His last breath was the saddest thing of my entire life.
thanks for listening =(

Please make sure you get yourself checked regularly to make sure you don't get it! Live you life, be happy and make your daddy proud! I think that's all we parents ever want for our children!

I understand...
Hi Fera, I just wanted to say I understand how you feel. My father took his last breath in April of this year after battling cancer, and I think of that moment all day, everyday and I still cry on a daily basis. I can't offer any words of wisdom, but I feel your pain. All the best to you x

I am sorry for your loss. I
I am sorry for your loss. I lost my mother suddenly 9 years ago and lost my first wife 15 years ago. Not to cancer but both to a chronic illness where the end came quick. It will get better but you will always find moments in your when you wish your father was there.

So sorry for your loss. Cancer steals a lot of life. Blessings to you.
My dad passed away in 2005. He had lived with us for a few years before he passed. I really thought I would never live a day past his death. My whole world was centered on him and his relationship throughout my life. He was a good man. Now when I think back I realize, I've not only had a life without him but I've built wonderful memories around all the lessons he has taught me. It's tough I miss him all the time. I talk to him all the time. I know he's with me as I battle my colon cancer. It's tough.. I understand. As my dad was dying, he told me not to cry that life was for the living. Don't just breathe LIVE. I'm trying to do it every day! The very last thing he did was salute my husband. Take time to grieve. This too shall pass.

Oh baby girl
I'm 56 and a dad to my beautiful talented daughter. I know that if I were gone I would want her to look back on all our happy times together and smile, maybe shed a tear and get busy living a happy fulfilled life full of love. He sounds like a great man who lived a passionate life, you would honor him by doing the same. I know that's what he would want for you. It's really hard now but things will get better with time. He's not gone because he will always be in your heart, remember that.

I am so sorry
I lost my mom to colon cancer May 5, 2006, she was only 57. It was the hardest time of my life, nothing can prepare you for the pain and depth to which the grief can go to. Even though it has been 8 yrs I think about my mom all of the time. Please make sure you are proactive about your health, as I was dx with colon cancer in 2008. I am doing well and I am cancer free, but I will never understand why my mom did not beat her cancer too. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
