Its been a tough month already
I have been fighting with the insurance company for almost a month now to get SBRT done on the chestwall spots. Then I went for treatment last Friday and all of my blood counts crashed so they delayed it until this Friday. I never had problems with my blood counts before. Then I just got a call from my wife that her mother in Korea died this morning from you guessed it CANCER!!!!!!!!! We new it was coming but it is still hard and ironically on my 50th birthday.

So sorry, Jeff
That is a long list of heartbreak.
I pray that your bloods will return to a decent level, so that treatment can continue.
I pray that you and your wife will be comforted at this time of loss. Will your wife be able to travel back to Korea?
And as for your 50th, well, that needs a seperate thread, so that we can celerate, because 50 is a wonderful thing and needs recognition beyond your sad news.

I'm so sorry
That is so sad and I'm sure that it going to be so difficult with MIL being so far away to deal with everything you have going on yourself. Counts always seems to go down when you don't want them to so I'm hoping that yours come up soon. I'm sorry for the passing of your MIL and hope that you get to honor her memory even though she is so far away. May God's Blessings abound you and wife with much comfort and help you deal with all that is going on in your life.

Oh ugh, Jeff...
that's way too much for one month.
I hope things start to look up from here on out, and pls tell your wife how sorry I am about her mom.
But on a brighter note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
Did you ever imagine pre-cancer that hitting 50 would be so satisfying? One of the few perks we cancer folk have.

Dennis is gearing up for SBRT
Dennis is gearing up for SBRT too... just had scans and molds made yesterday. I pray that your blood work stabilizes and you are able to start your treatment soon. He is getting very scared because the radiologist oncologist mention liver failure, which was mentioned with all treatments but he latched on to that statement this time and is very worried. I am trying to stay postive for him but am getting nervous too. I wish you the best of everything.
GOD's blessings.

Thanks Brenda. Tell Dennis he will be fine. You are right there seems to be a chance of liver failure with everything i do. My doctors appeal with my insurance for SBRT was denied again. So i just appealed it with the state health dept. Its funny in 9 years of fighting cancer this is the first time my insurance turned me down for coverage. I might pursue Nanoknife as well. They approved y90 which so far so good.
Didnt Dennis do y90 radioembolization (SIRT). Where are the lesions that he is getting SBRT done.

Yes, he did Y90 in Feb only to have the tumor show back up in a scan in Aug. The tumor is one that we have been whipping on since diagnoses, it's next to hepatic artery so not resectable. He has been taking cimetadine since diagnoses and I believe that is why he hasn't had any new ones. I asked his doctor if he thought it has something to do with Dennis not having any new tumors and his response was that he doesn't know why Dennis has done so much better than the 18-22 months they gave him in Feb 2011 but that he would like him to particiapate in a new trial. I don't know a lot about it other than they are looking for cancer cells in the blood. Dennis signed the papers and gave blood, I guess if they find anything intersting with him they will let us know.
I'm sorry they are denying your treatments. it's criminal if you ask me. It's treatments that has kept us together for an extra two, and still counting, years.
He has a scan to do this coming Monday and then SBRT the following week. I will let you know how it all goes.
I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
God's blessings
