    Fun, fun, fun!

    Ron,

Hope you are doing great with the race and that the back pain has left as fast as you are riding!  Just keep having fun, you do so deserve it!!

                                                            Prayers of good health!

                                                             Brenda

    Update

Sorry I have been so slow...  I had a blast, as you would expect..  Did a lot of "wrenching" which also is normal..  we had decent practice laps, only to have an issue the day before our race.  So my pal Kennie and I did an "all nighter" and rebuilt the engine.  Got it done just in time, literally...  Luckily we had a race delay...  at the last minute found a small crack in the gas tank..  sealed it up while waiting for the race to start.

So, this IS the Isle of Man.. we got 2.5 laps when it blew a head gasket.. booo... doing well up till then..  but still happy with the improvments made.

Got to visit with dozens of pals.. made new pals as well... the fun never stopped..

Except that the back pain was awful.. a couple of days I was taking way more pills than I would of liked.. now back to one or two a day.. whew..!  But tomorrow I fly home.. so I will be taking more pills in my carry on bag.. lots more than I need... but having more will likely mean I will take less... reverse psychology on myself.. heh...  I suspect all the bumps on the airplane irritated things.. I know that laying down or standing is pretty good.. sitting causes big time pain after a while.. and any jarring the same or worse... need to be careful and let things heal is my guess / hope.

And Wednesday is another Doctor day... blood work, Zometa infusion, and most likely another Phlebotomy.. then meet up with my Onc to discuss it all...   I am hoping that the back pain will diminish on it's own.. otherwise.. well I suspect surgery will happen.. booo.. oh well...

Thanks for all the support here..!!

    Ah Jan..

Hey Jan... YOU are the cutie pie..!!! Laughing  People say I am optimistic, but you exude or is it radiate..?  Your smile lights up the place...

I am now in Chicago with a 4 hour layover.   I had a pretty good pain management plan in place.  I took 1 pill about 3 hours before take off, 1 pill mid way.. and 1 about an hour before landing.  I should of taken that last pill about a half hour earlier..  Due to winds, that plane bounced 3 times, real hard..  made me scream...  But all is well after getting off the plane and walking.  Happy to be in the good ole USA again... it was another great trip...

Now if only I had a (female) travel mate / nurse... but then... I do dream a lot... heh..

    Be Well All..!!! Cool

    Welcome home

hi, Ron, glad to hear you enjoyed your trip despite the back pain. My husband has chronic back pain but the cyberknife is doing the job with the met. It has been 13 months since he had the treatments but he still takes pain meds.

    Hi Sarah.,.!  Thanks for that

Hi Sarah.,.!  Thanks for that bit of info.. You confirmed what I suspected.  That the Met lesion will not go away by itself.  And I also suspect that if the pain becomes too much, then it may be surgery time to "fix" it.  Has surgery been brought up as an option for your hubby..?

    No surgery

    Ron:

my husband had a laminectomy for one met between L2-4 and cyberknife for T11; the pain is from the surgery but it is not piercing or unbearable.

The T11 does not hurt but cyberknife, as it was explained, does destroyed but shows as "unchanged" on the scans. At first, this freaked me out but the oncologist explained that if it started to grow, the radiation would destroy any extension.

We were told no surgery there since the cyberknife had essentially destroyed the spot and surgery would be dangerous.

In your situation, you only had one treatment (my husband had 5) so maybe more cyber might be possible. The really good statistic is that cyber is 90% effective for spinal mets.

Right now, my husband is putting on a new roof over our garage after spending all morning with his olive project. He has an appointment this week to test whether the aches and pains are arthritis, osteoparosis or a combination. The scans showed no evidence of metastasis.

Sorry for the confusion; the laminectomy was done in the nick of time because there was compression which could have left him paralyzed. The pain now is stiffness which has limited some of his activities and for which he needs pain meds (tramadol).

I guess I should give you all

I guess I should give you all an update..  The Cyberknife was pretty easy.  The 45 minute estimate wasw 2 hours..   Fast forward, 3 days later flew to the UK, then took a ferry boat to the Isle of Man.  I was greeted by two of my Irish pals... nice..!!!   But the airplane trip took a toll on my back.. to say it hurt is an understatement..  For a short time I took more pain pills than I would of liked, but.. this is why my doctor gave me a large bottle of them.. just in case..

Got the race bike set up.. we got in 4 decent practice laps, but also had a head gasket failure the evening before the race.  My pal Kennie and I pulled an "all nighter" to rebuild the engine.  The rebuild is a normal part of the pre-race plan, just added more drama with the head gasket failure, which turned out to be a broken head bolt.

We got it done, minutes before the scheduled race start.. got through Tech Inspection.. Then there was a 1.5 hour delay.. nice..!

Then, I spotted it.. a slow drip of fuel which I had thought was from the fuel tap.  Nope a crack in the gas tank...  Out came the Honda Bond HT, gobbed it on.. drip.. wrapped it with duct tape.. drip.. put on three zip ties.. no drip..!  Then I added two more layers of Honda Bond HT, just as a precaution... that race delay allowed it all to set up.. awesome..!

My rider was enthusiastic..  heck we all were happy people..!

So, all the bikes are in a holding pen, Park Ferme.  And the bikes get pushed out on to the road to line up for their single starts at 10 second intervals.  Here is a link to all of us pushing the bikes uphill a bit on to the street.  If you go to the 4 minute mark, I am pushing my bike, number 42.  You can clearly see how bad my back hurt at that time...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocXi9RrGFEY

The results..?  Well, only got 2.5 laps when it blew another head gasket..  everything else worked pretty darn good... everyone could hear me cry "Next Year..!!"

    Hi All..!  Quick update.  Had

Hi All..!  Quick update.  Had lots of nasty pain, got to my Onc and was told most likely a residual of the Cyberknife and it will most likely diminish and go away.  Got some Lanocaine pathches, which did not work.  Back to the pain pills.  But the pain would come and go.. some days great some days not so great..  However in the last few days the pain has definitely lessened, just like I was told..!  I feel pretty darn good the last two days.  In the morning I wake up to a dull pain or more like a slight pressure, then I take a single pill in the morning to start me off..  and fine the rest of the day...

So, back to figuring out what I need to do on the racer for next year..!

    Question please

I had a partial left nephrectomy in June 2014 by Da Vinci robotics.  Was told pathology showed clear  - no cancer!

Yee-haw, however in preparing for follow-up at M D Anderson in Houston, I was informed by the staff I would have to have a brain MRI.

Sort of took me by surprise, but I guess if that is what I need, I'll go for it.

Anybody had this sprung on them?

Hi Bill, it sounds like you

Hi Bill, it sounds like you did not get a copy of the Pathology report.  Suggest you get it and see what it says.  There should be a lot more info.. MDA is very thorough, and they want to be sure.

    Good Luck

    Peptide treatment

    Hi

Have you heard or read about treating tumor cancer disease types with a new molecular therapy that uses targeted peptides and proteins to restore cellular function. Its getting very popular and the success rate is very high. One of my relative has personally tried it and giving rapid results.

If you havent come across this treatment then do a Google search for the term "Peptide treatment", or the company named "Regenerative Cellular Therapy. Its a very innovative contribution for recent cancer treatment.I hope it helps.

    Sorry but...

...I don't see how it could help at all.  One of the most fundamental discoveries about tumor cells - dating back to the 1920's in research conducted by Otto Warburg - is that they cannot be returned to normal cellular respiration.  The only therapy that has achieved that - for a very specific rare form of cancer - is a drug manufacturered by Agios Pharmaceuticals.  However, in their case they are targeting specific gene mutations (IDH1 and IDH2) that are involved in cell metabolism.

Regardless, this all has little to do with "peptides" or "proteins" - which are just generic classifications for a wide range of molecules.

    Buyer Beware.
