I'm tryting to read this - my brother sent it to me - I'm finding her very maudulin & negative - just wondering if anyone haas read it & opinions?

    Hi Susan I read it when I was first diagnosed and found it hard going , it actually scared me I'm a positive person even with my diagnosis of 3c aggresive oc , I know our disease isn't a barrell of laughs but I've found I'm calmer I value my family and friends more  and am glad of every day so I guess I've found some positives . jue

    Memoir of a Debulked Woman

    I loved her book (and her NYT column). It's the only thing I've read about ovarian cancer that's unflinching and honest.

    Gubar's NY Times articles are reall good!

    I had a hard time with her book which I read after it came out. i was pretty new to OVCA and it scared me...I'll bet if I go back and reread it that I'll have a different reaction. Her NY Times series is very good...honest and ironic...I highly recommend it!

    I agree.

    However, I did find some of the more scientific passages to be a bit tedious. But otherwise, I thought the way she expressed her emotions and feelings about her treatment was honest and informative.
