Good Vibes needed for Steve

in Head and Neck Cancer #1

Steve (hawk711) is having a jaw resecting (left side) this coming Tuesday, August 26.  He and I have been in fairly regular contact leading up to and after my own same procedure in early May.  Please send him your good vibes (in whatever form you generate them) on the 26th, and into the next several weeks afterwards, so that he heals steadily and becomes pain-free in his jaw.

    Sending prayers. Debi is getting ready for same soon too. Her first lasted 2 1/2 years then plate broke. They are using her other fibula so the good news for all of you is that the new fibula won't be radiated.  I saw my ENT yesterday. He thought my fibula replacement was dead from radiation but a scan showed bone was still viable. I do have titanium and bone (about 1 cm) exposed inside cheek and outside underneath. For now, I am going on long term antibiotics. Will get opinion from Mayo in September. Eventually, if bone fused properly, they may go in and remove section of titanium. He said once titanium gets infected (just had cellulitus) it's virtually impossible to get rid of it.  

    Prayers for Steve, you and Debi. It's not an easy surgery but thankful the procedure exists.
