CT Scan or Cheesecake Factory

in Colorectal Cancer #1

So my husband and I drove all the way to Reno (300 mile round trip) for my CT Scan only to be told that the machine was not working. 

What to do? What to do?  Got it! We'll go to the newly opened Cheesecake Factory. (Anyone familiar with Robin Hood Men in Tights will recognise the line).

So the trip wasn't a total bust as I enjoyed a wonderful Godiva Cheesecake.

I am re-scheduled for next week for my scan, followed by the Oncologist the next day. I will be going alone, which is a first, as my husband has been to every appointment and scan with me; but he can't get the time off with such short notice.  

Just thought I'd share.

    I'm sorry you didn't have your appointment. But the Cheesecake Factory is a definite consolation prize :) We have one in South Florida. Everything they make is great.

    Geesh, at least you got the cheesecake out of the deal!

    I hope your scan comes back clear. Make sure you stop and have another piece of cheesecake next trip.

    You did it!

    You made the best of a bad situation...isn't that what we all have to do?

    It has been a long while since I was at a Cheesecake Factory, but my fav dessert was always the apple dumpling!

    Safe travels when you head back...and you should probably put another visit to the CF on your agenda...lol.

    Wish I lived closer

    We have a Cheesecake Factory here in Huntington Beach.  Everyone is always willing to meet there. I always get full on the food and take cheesecake home. I wish I was close to you. I would gladly accompany you. My prayers and good wishes for a perfect scan.

    What a great attitude....I'd probably still be fuming that they hadn't called.  Good for you. A good lesson for me.  Good luck with next week's scan.

    In their defence

    They did call the house, but its a 2 1/2 drive and we had set off at 6 AM.

    Don't worry....

    its something I do all of the time, along with putting my foot in my mouth. Bad combination. HA!

    That's what I had when I went to Stanford, Cheesecake Facctory. I splurged on calories, chicken piccata.  Yum. 

     

    I'll be in Reno August 29th. Visiting a friend and going to see Wynonna on Friday and the Eagles on Saturday.

    I will be at the Atlantis Hotel on the 27th and 28th and heading out of town on the 29th. When do you arrive in Reno?

    I'm sorry the machine was broken and they weren't able to let you know.  Do you have a friend or family member who can go to the scan with you?  I know I'm incredibly nervous come scan time.

    I hope everything turns out wonderful and you can celebrate with more cheesecake!

    My neice did offer to come up with me, but I have to leave the day before the scan as my appointment is at 8:30 am and then stay a second night as my appointent with the Oncologist is the next day. 

    I'll go alone and make the most of it.  I don't have scanxiety, just don't like driving 330 miles through the desert alone.

    Indeed!

    My husband (who was driving) and I outran a dust storm just last month. It was huge, and moving fast. We were lucky to keep ahead of it.
